as for spreading the "good news"...
from what i understand, converting provinces you don't own is pretty much a waste of time unless your planning to invade within a year or two. the ai has no serious problems handling non-clan-religion populations. lame, right?
the religious conversion rate of a province stacks with all sources. so two monks will convert faster than one and so on.
inciting rebellion works better if the province is NOT the religion of your monk/missionary. so a monk will have an easy time inciting a rebellion in a 100% christian province. and thats not confusing at all......
- portuguese tercos are very good because of their high melee attack/defense stats. Use them in your best armies.
- Euro cannons are pretty bad, they miss most of the time and do pitiful damage when they hit something.
- donderbuss are pretty amazing but like all cavalry need some micromanaging, and take a while to unlock.
- European trade ships are ridiculously overpowered. Use them to take over all the trade nodes near Kyushu and hold them indefinitely.
- missionaries are also ridiculously overpowered, they can cause rebellions really really easily. I find that they break the game and make Otomo boring to play as because you can win by spamming rebellions. :(
- for conversion, put missionaries in towns to improve conversion rates, and build churches when you can. I think there's a chi art that increases the overall conversion rate. Put metsukes in towns that aren't happy about your Christianity to keep the rabble in check.
- oh and never ever do leased land. It makes no sense. You lose honor, which makes your people less happy, and you get a smallish lump sum of money, and you can never undo the leased land. If they had made it give you a recurring amount of money each turn it might have made more sense. In any case you don't want to mess with your peoples' happiness when you're struggling to convert them all and keep them from rebelling.
