Ishin Shishi/Shinsengumi, Incite revolt clarification needed?`

So I'm playing as Tosa and started horrendously badly, running out of money a lot and such so have been going to war with neighbouring factions and just took out the Shimazu for their territory, and my most powerful military ally (larger than me) just switched allegience and declared war on me.
My Ishin Shisi has successfully incited a revolt in a town they took from me, will the city rejoin me if the rebels win the battle or will I need to reconquer it regardless?

Haven't played FOTS in quite awhile but I think you'll need to retake it. Someone will be along shortly to correct me if I got that wrong (or you'll find out yourself shortly).

I woudlnt ask but ive just shut it down to go to bed and im the impatient type to be honest lol

ill check it in the morning anyway after the mountain of chores I put off today already
