[FotS] Which foreign power should I invite?

So, in Fall of the Samurai, you can invite the Birts, Fench, or Americans to establish a military mission, letting you recruit units. I have already (through custom battles) found out the Brits get the best ships, the French have the best infantry, and the US is the middle ground. Which do you think is the most useful?

Oh, and why, so I can determine if your opinion suits my playstyle.

I usually go with whomever asks first. Usually the US.

The marines are good on the line.

There is one caveat, you only get the French if you're shogunate and Brits only if you're Imperial.

i go the brits, their warrior class ironclad absolutley destroys on the seas, and royal marines are pretty tough in melee, great for storming castles.
i usually end up with troops from all 3 foriegn powers by halfway through a campaign just from random events

I go with the French typically, they have the best uniforms and I prize marksmanship over mele skill. With that being said I sometimes go American because I love listening to their marching banter and their ironclad ships have the unique advantage of being able to be operated below deck giving them extremely low casualty rates.
