Any FoS economic tips Or help in general?
I can play the base game, Shogun 2, perfectly fine, but i am having a hell of a time trying to get any clan up and running with Fall of the Samurai. Here's my setup:

-I tried playing the Tosa and with the original 9,000 i upgraded my farm, and upgraded my castle so i can get another building slot to get an economic building...now i have no money because buildings are so damn expensive!

-I'm apparently also at war with someone to the north so i have sent the fleet of ships i started with to bombard them.

-Then i got a mission to go take the settlement to the north so i recruited a couple more units just so i can have a decent army (9-10) units but have 1-2 units remain at home. Now money is even tighter.

-I peed away a few turns because everytime i put my army in a boat the people from the settlement to the north walked their enemy down (i call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥), so there was some back and forth movements.

-I've been bombarding the people in the north and i finally walk my army up there, do some raiding, and then attack the town only to find out that my chance of winning is slim to none because the enemy has somehow managed to upgrade to more units and better units despite the constant bombarding (and them having no trade).

So, how am i supposed to manage this because i don't have any money to upgrade my city AND build an army to attack (or defend for that matter, because if i don't attack they'll be coming to me). This is like the 3rd-4th attempt at FoS and i just keep getting stuck in the same rut and the few guides i've read continue to tell me that i have to move faster in FoS than in Shogun 2 otherwise i'll be out empired. Anyone got any good advice?

Perhaps you could try walking your army some distance from the castle (perhaps hide them in a forest if one is available) and then double back when their army approaches. It's risky but it might allow you to catch them before they leave again

Use the woods to your advantage. There is a route directly to the north you can take. Use the agent given to you at the beginning to scout and as soon as there army enters your territory attack there city. Rinse and repeat. I beat both legendary campaigns by hiding my main army in forests.

Also delete the starter navy it's useless and only build cheap spear units until you get about 4 provinces. You only need a few units to defend castles. Just camp the very top with all the units and your guys will fight to the last man.

Have you considered playing a different clan?
What I do for Tosa start.
Turn 1: Load up Daimyo and his army as well as his son and his army onto the corvette, disband the matchlock Katchi. Send the corvette West and North to Iyo, send one gun boat west to explore Kyushu (Scuttle it after it's done exploring), Scuttle the last gun boat. Put your Geisha and your general into your city. Start research to adminstrative training. Don't build any structures yet.

Turn 2: Corvette continues to move towards Iyo. Recruit two Line Infantry units.

Turn 3: Move corvette past Iyo towards the beach to the east where you can land.

Turn 4: Ozu army should invade and either move towards your farm or towards your city. Move your corvette near the beach but don't dismount your units yet.

Turn 5: Spring. Ozu might damage your farm, don't repair yet. Land your units on the beach.

Turn 6: Move your Daimyo from the beach towards Iyo, move your corvette to Iyo as well to support. Ozu main army will move towards your capital. Ozu reinforcements will move into your territory as well

Turn 7: Ozu might lay siege to your castle, merge with reinforcements or move back towards their city. Attack Iyo. You can autoresolve and win with acceptable casualties. Ozu military in your territory dissapears. There might be a straggler rebel unit in Iyo province. Move your Daimyo's army towards the rebel. move your general from Tosa into your ally territory towards Sanuki. Demolish Barracks in Tosa, repair castle and build police station and port in Iyo.

Turn 8: Destroy the rebel. Recruit 2 Yari Kachi from Iyo. Build Inn in Tosa.

Turn 9: Maragume might declare war on you, don't ask your allies to join the war. Your general should be right on the boarder of Sanuki. Move your Corvette towards Sanuki, don't bombard his military.

Turn 10: Maragume moves into your province. Recruit an Ishin Ishi and another Yari Kachi. Move your general towards Sanuki.

Turn 11: Maragume will either move towards Iyo or Tosa. If it moves towards Iyo which is more likely, keep your Daimyo army there. Attack Sanuki with your General. Maragumi military disintegrades and you now have 3 provinces. At this point I move my Ishin Ishi to the Tokushima border and watch for an opportunity to start a rebelion there while they are fighting the caln on Awaji. Occasionally they may declare war on you. Start trading with Imperial clans.

By around turn 14-15 depending on what Tokushima does you should have the entirety of the island under your control. You can demolish all your military buildings and replace them with economy buildings. Inn>Craftworks.

4 Yari Kachi, 4-6 Yari levies and your 2 Line infantries can win against most ealry game armies your opponent throws at you.

Don't neglect your navy, as the loss of ports can tank your income hard.
