How do I get a faction to like me?
There are only 4 factions left, one of them is to my left and the other 2 are to my right, I really want to make peace with the one to my left they'd be a big help but they keep declaring war, they only accept peace treaties if I pay them, and they rarely ever accept my alliance treaties even with money.. What can I do to get them to like me? I need their help, and if they ever turn on me then I am screwed from both sides and will be the next faction to go... I don't get it, I never loot places, my people are happy, and I'm wealthy, why would they want to hate me? I've literally never attacked any of their men or castles either

Depends on who you're talking about, some clans are seemingly hard wired to dislike other certain clans. Two good examples, everyone hates Otomo and ikko-ikki, and there's not much you can do to change that.

I'm talking about base shogun 2, not fall or rise of the samurai, the only left clans are Chosokabe (me), Imagawa, Ito, and Takeda, and atm everyone hates me and is pushing against me.. I tried diplomatics as much as I can, I tried making peace, offering money, etc, most they'll ever do is a 10 turn peace treaty then start attacking me again, and Ito absolutely hates me for some unexplained freaking reason, even though I NEVER, EVER attacked them, we used to be allied, AND I helped them attack the last Ashikaga province, AND they even got it despite the fact that I sacrificed more soldiers helping them.. I get that Imagawa hates me though, as I cut their land by half, but they are still more friendly than Ito, they accept treaties without payment, Ito doesn't.

Ok, but both of those clans I mentioned are in the base S2 game if you bought the dlc, and you failed to mention initially who you were talking about.

If you're past realm divide you're going to get a diplomacy penalty that builds against you pretty much non-stop.

The point at which you should of been buidling a long term alliance was probably some time back , I start working on those early through trade, attacking their enemies, marriage and money. If you start one early it stands a chance of surviving realm divide for awhile.

Isn't Otomo and ikko ikki in the game even if you don't own the DLC?

Ah damn so basically I'm screwed, I'm not surprised tbh this is my first time playing and at first I attacked everyone at site and never made any diplomatic relations.

Before I start a new game, what is the easiest faction, and whats the difference between the campaign types? (long, short, and forgot the third one)

Zonda,

Actually come to think of it they are, you just can't play as them if you haven't bought that dlc.

There will be lots of opinions on this as there are a lot of ways to play the campaign.

My take: Play the long campaign, gives you more time to win. As for clan to play, I'd recommend shimazu. They can't be flanked as they start on an island, so you don't get multi-front problems early on, plus you can establish trade off the trade nodes and make income right from the start of the campaign, funding a more robust army than your neighbors. As for an alliance, I'd start one early with Chosokabe, not only will they stay on their island for the most part and out of your way they tend to build decent navies that help protect your sea lanes.

Sure, circle back if you have more questions as the campaign progresses, I'm sure I or some other regulars will be happy to talk through tactics and strategies.

The game is designed to make it very hard for you, so the reality is the other clans are never going to make peace with you. Try to hold off some while taking out one of them. You must be close to Realm Divide, so you won't have any peace anyway. Use your Ninjas and Monks to cause as much havic as possible while you take out their provinces. Get trade nodes as quick as possible to so you have the cash you need. Crush one and then take on the next. When you reach Realm Divide go straight for Kyoto and take it out so you become Shogun, I've played Oda and it seems everyone wants war with you from day one unless they are weak. I though the original Rome was hard with all the revolts, but Realm Divide is by far the hardess.

Throw free cash at the clan. 5000 gold if you are neutral, 10000 koku will turn a hated enemy into awkward acquaintances. Anything above 10000 will turn an enemy instantly friendly.

Well if u read properly, you will get a realm divide notification. Means everyone hates you.

'Easiest faction' is kinda hard to pick. Clans like shimazu, chosokabe, and date have good starting positions which make an easier early game, but will all have their own problems. Date take forever to get the game going due to having massive provinces, shimazu have to deal with christians. The clans are kinda divided into either: Easy but slow start (low money/boring), or Harder but Faster start (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of money/faster conquering). I prefer the clans that instantly see action, Takeda ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ up with cav and lotsa trading. Otomo is super duper rich. Hojo is also rich.

I recomend the Hojo because they have a very easy start, with lots of prosperity. The only downfall is that they are relatively close to the center, which means your competing with takeda and oda clans.

Thats the religion penalty.
Otomo start out Christian so they get a hefty penalty on diplomacy until other clans convert and Ikko Ikki have their own religion so they get a penalty all game.

You also take an honour hit with Otomo for things like leased land and Ikko Ikko are generally a slow clan to gain honour so that again impacts diplomacy.

Short campaign has the least territory to conquer for a victory but also the least turns to take them.

Long Campaign requires you to conquer more are than short but as you get more time you'll find it easier as it gives more leeway for learning the game as you go.

The 3rd campaign type is domination which is basically a harder version of long campaign.
