Report a translation problem
Have you tried swapping language back to see if you at least can run it in English or whatever you language was?
If you are on Windows it will be under:
control panel -> region -> administrative
Still, hope I'm wrong and there's a mod or something, I'd like to see it all in kanji ! :]
I'm on Mac actually, sorry but I'm not sure how to check that. My computer was purchased in the US if that makes a difference...
Hm, that's an idea. I do have Japanese and English input set up for typing. Like you I do hope there's some way to play in Japanese though.
On TWCenter, I've once read about a Japanese text mod translating the names into nihongo, but I don't know if it is still available.

If you search through places like steam workshop, mod db and the total war forums forums you can probably find several more similar
I actually have the file for this, but I was unsure how to install it. I opened a thread here but nobody seemed to know. Would you have any idea where to install the .pack file from that mod? It's not total Japanese, but at least there is more Japanese dialogue so it's something. :)

On a mac your user scripts will be in:
