S2's the most beginner friendly TW game. There's very little to learn and nothing changes as you play.
A minute to learn, a lifetime to master.

I recommend fall of the samurai, the gameplay is harder to learn, but much more fun.

Eh, Rome is probably more beginer friendly. Realm divide I imagine would be brutal on beiginers as it happens jsut when you are getting the game going when you slow play. But it isn't represenative of the more modern series depsite having all the mechanics that made total war shine out (having armies move by space instead of a risk style map with only provicne to province movement for example, troops being able to rest and regain stamina, making the morale mechanic make sense...).

This is a fairly good game for a beginer in vanilla.

In fact, I think a beginer could be able to handle Date, Shizumu, or Takeda with campaign set to easy and battlefield set to normal. Anyone who plays very hard will get what they asked for

Make sure to get Rome 1 though, Rome 2 has many complex campaign features that will be difficult to learn but yeah, Shogun 2 was my first, and it took me 1 campaign to learn most the mechanics. On easy, realm divide was only a minor issue in my second campaign, and after that it was really easy.

After you master Shogun 2 (which will take a bit more time, I guess a sign is when you successfully and easily win a hard-legendary campaign), you can basically adapt to every other Total War game.

Yeah, either or, but the lack of faction diversity makes Shogun 2 easier to learn, yet still incredibly fun and enjoyable
