Freeze/crash on loading saved game

Using windows 7 and been playing this campaign heavily for a month now. Game crashed last night and now it won't load any saved games including the auto save file.

Two things are different since the problem started:

1. it is now always asking me to confirm DX 9 or DX 11.
2. Normally it would go to almost full screen while loading up the game to the intro trailer. I could still click on the taskbar or anything I already had opened on the desktop(mainly my Logitech game profile for G13 keyboard.Once the opening movie would start i would click the mouse and it would go all the way to full screen.

Now it goes right to full screen. I can get into the game, do a custom battle, but when I try to load any saved game it just freezes and I have to ctrl-alt-del to get the task manager which reveals a "shogun 2 has stopped working" dialog box.

I did some searching and the closest solution was delete saves if you backup with a lot of save files. I was up to 30 so sounded like it might work. Deleted half but did not solve the issue.

try a another save game file , just to be sure its not a corruted save game,

and if validate game cache cant help you then somethings has happend at your pc that cause this.

I got it working by removing all the saves to another folder. Started a new game and saved. That got the game to load up like it did before the issue. No DirextX confirmation.

I had to go 4 saves back to get one that worked. Don't understand what corrupted the other files that were newer. I have been saving the same way throughout the campaign. It only got to so many saves due to adding significant events, naming them in case I wanted to start over from that decision.

Just worried that the issue will arise again. I intend on playing the main campaign once more with another clan after this(then moving on to DLC).

you could perform a check harddisk, many tool app do this or use windows to do it. i prefer app
like advance system care and i use all in the care sections only to get ride off junk + a check disk on hard disk same time, it safe time and windows check disk is vewry slow but it also check everý sector
