Has it been fixed to run on Windows 10 yet?
I have had this game for years, played it often. I played on max settings on a Windows 7 system with no issues but when I upgraded to Windows 10 the game ran like crap. I went from waiting 15-20 seconds on end turn to waiting 5-6 minutes or more, loading times went from a minute or two to 5-7 minutes for a battle. My frame rate went from an average of about 45 to down around 5-10 fps. Nothing changed other than my operating system. This is the only game in my Steam library I have had any issues with. It ran so slow in Windows 10 that it became unplayable for me.

It has been over a year since I last tried this game on my system and I was wondering if the Windows 10 problem had been solved in any patches or anything. I also tried running Windows compatibility mode in every configuration I could think of, none made any difference.

Edit to add system specs in case anyone was wondering:

Windows 10 Home 64-bit
AMD FX-8320 processor (8 core @ 3.5Ghz)
16GB RAM
ATI Radeon RX 480 Gfx card (8Gb video memory)

Not sure, as I use Win 7.

Out of curiosity, do you play Attila and how is your performance on that?

Because there are people saying Win 10 is a problem for that game too.

For me, this game runs just fine on 10. Unlike Rome 2...

most people that has issue with games is AMD hardware, you need to check for driver and bios update to all hardware to that mortherboard.

but this will maybe not fix the Graphic card issue with this game, but other AMD user has confirm that they work now with crimson driver or whatever they call it now, i cant see a name but name dont matter just use newest or maybe even Beta drivers, Nvidia and AMD throw so many driver release out today, that its impossible to keep track on if you dont use auto update driver notifications today, but many forget mortherboard has same needs. and windows update cant fix what it dont understand what mortherboard drivers has fixed.

and then use iobits driver booster, that can even find driver our mortherboard support site give a rattsbutt about our 3rd part device on our mortherboard, they only go for stability and dont use newest driver release, and this can also be cause if driver is old and slow as hell and give other issue.

well anyway gl with it.
windows is not to be blamed for games that dont work then they meet that games specification
all win7 pruducted games all of them work on my win10

i have only seen very few winxp games that need special fixing or other workaround, but that require skill and read on net or steam post if other user has made a fix.

runs great on windows 10

I've been using it on Win10 just fine. My biggest issue has been it wanted to install Flash... to which I refused. Still works great.
Odd, I would think CA games play very nice with AMD. Anyway, fps aside, given the circumstances, maybe a disk defrag may help?
Don't think a bad sector on HDD can cause longer wait times. ( would just not load)
Can't think of anything else that would only disrupt a single game in such a way. (mods aside)

I redownloaded it to give it another try. Seems the last I had played it was August of 2015, right after the free upgrade to windows 10 was offered. It still is pretty slow but not as slow as it was. I get stuttering on the campaign map and the battles still take several minutes to load but its not completely unplayable. Just takes patience. Given my specs it should run lightening fast, Total War: Warhammer runs really quickly on max settings on this same PC. I did notice however that in the options that although it correctly reads the make and model of my gfx card it reads it as only having 2918MB of video memory, not the 8GB it actually has. Don't know if this is part of the cause of the slowdown but thought it was odd. I am current on all my drivers, processor, motherboard, gfx card, etc, so I don't know what else I can do to speed it up. Thanks for all who tried to help.

Runs great on my system

I'm on windows 10, and it runs ok. Load times and such are fine. But I have to run around medium settings to get stable gameplay during large battles. It still gets real choppy if I up the battle speed.

Meanwhile with Rome 2 I can run ultra everything and use 3x speed in a large battle with no lag lol. It's always weird when I switch back to my Parthia playthrough on rome and the game just runs so smooth. It's odd, but for whatever reason, this game just doesn't run as well for me. Even Atilla runs smoother for me in general lol.

Running - R9 390 8gb, 16gb ram, I7 4790k, Windows 10.

It runs on windows 10 fine already, been running it since last summer. 9 times out of 10 problems with any game are down to either old drivers or conflicting mods.
Attila was designed for windows 10 I believe, at least in the later updates.

this game runs like lightning on my system on windows 10. I don't even have a great graphics card (gt730 and I can basically play with most settings on ultra at 60fps). With my ssd and i7 6700 ai turn times and autosaves go by so fast I can barely even notice. Literally at the start of a campaign all the ai turns combined takes maybe 4 seconds.
Hellsteeth30 Mar 23, 2017 @ 9:41am
I have only this ancient laptop with it's below min spec dual core APU (for now) and it runs on medium with the blood pack on Win 10 with few issues. AI turns (showing CPU turns on) take 30 seconds or less.

Battles run above 30 fps at least.

In fact it runs better than Empire/Napoleon do. Though I have higher settings on Napoleon.
