Missionaries: Holy WTF?
Well I thought I was doing pretty good in my first campaign until this stupid Christian Missionary showed up from the Otomo lands.

He now has 2 of my provinces in open rebellion between Christians and Buddhists and has converted every Metsuke or Ninja sent to kill him.

Apparently I can't do anything else and this guy is free to wander around and cause absolute havoc?

There has to be a way to deal with this guy. Help?

simple, keep hiring assassins and metsuke, etc.
Though even then you may only just remove him temporarily.
I recently had the same problem with a 1 province clan that had 3 monks that converted all 3 of my monks, as well as 2 metsukes and an elite ninja.
In the end I got rid of 2 permanently, and the 3rd one was temporarily gone when I decided to just use 3 armies to crush them.

Not so sure if that'd work on yours unless you happen to still be near the start and able to just focus on them for a while. Good luck if your mid-late game.

Not 100% sure how it works with monks converting monk sorta stuff, but depending on the skills of that missionary some agents may not be as effective as others.

Also, Ikko Ikki get their own religion and start somewhere in the middle, and are generally as annoying as Otomo if not more, as I think their rebels actually count as their own troops, instead of NPCs that just do nothing.

Yeah, agents are quite powerful. It pays to have your own. ;)

Monks beats Metsuke, Metsuke beats Shinobi, Shinobi beats Monks. Geishas murder everyone. That's how it should work anyways.

Yeah, the Ikko Ikki religion spawns Ikko Ikki rebels that, upon taking a settlement, instantly converts over to the main Ikko Ikki forces.

its actually metsuke > ninja > monk/missionary > metsuke

and then in fots shinobi > geisha > foreign vet > ishin/shinshegumi > shinobi

but fots is not quite the same. shinobi basically kill anyone with 95% chance if he leveled up, whereas regular shogun is just like paper/rock/siccors, fots is not completely like that, but that is a good overview.

so basically track that missionary down and send ninja's at him with assasinate mission, they will eventually win.

Shinobis, Ninjas, they're both so similar they're pretty much the same unit, so excuse me for my mistake.

Depending on who you are playing and where your lands are you can always use the boat trick: place a ship between the island crossing...no one gets through and Missionaries can't get you.

Other than that my goal would be: a) Use agents of my own or b) Try and take Otomo lands quick

Yeah that is a great strategy that can really save your ass.

The weakness with Otomo, or any of the Kyushu clans, is that they can only cross at one strait to move directly to land without a fleet.

Like EAT3N says, block this strait!

Other than that, they have to use fleets, so just use your own scout ships and ninja to see when they are boarding up, let them get out in the water, then sink them.

The weakness with monks and priests is that they cannot hide either.

A good ninja with assassination skills will be able to easily take them out. Even if the priest is high rank, a middling ninja should be able to handle him 😈

With metsuke, try embedding them into a town or army to stop conversions and rebellions, respectively.

It is harder for the priest to convert a metsuke embedded with other characters in an army that diminish the priest's success chance, and it is harder to convert those other characters with the metsuke around, so a win-win.
