Sonic 3 and Knuckles (No Soft Reset?)

Ok so i beat the game getting 6 of the 7 emeralds (1 level got me every time). When i got to the main menu, I remembered a level where there I could get to a ring near the beginning of the level. I got the emerald and now i cant find a way to get back to the menu. They didnt put a soft reset in this game. Am I really going to have to re-beat the game just to get back to reselecting levels? Does anyone know of a soft reset? I'm stuck on Mushroom Hill 1 (dropped off my last emerald at the palace)

sorry, there is no such thing, try pressing F5, that will create a save state that loads again when F9 is pressed, and look at lp's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_5bOXMqDM0

Try finishing the stage you got the emerald on and quit the game and restart. That would act as a turn off and on for the game, but it will still save your game data.

If you activate the level select code (hang from a rope swing in Angel Island 1 or one of those pulley lifts in Mushroom Hill and press left 3 times, right 3 times, and up 3 times), you can soft reset afterwards by pausing and pressing whatever you have mapped to A.

yeah but like i said i was already at mushroom hill zone without doing the angel island cheat so it didnt work. But just so you guys know, I figured out if you lose all your lives, itll take you to the title screen and you can load whatever level you want (once youve beaten the game) and itll start you with 3 lives. But just saying, it took me a while to lose all 30 lives i racked up... lol

u can run the cheats thru no save and the hold a and pick ur save file and you can soft reset with the debug or running for the emralds

I think that method really worked well. It saved my file normally in the game. Thanks.
