Also, Sega isn't going to update a 21-24 year old game
Uh...heard of the SEGA Channel?
Bad business decisions and a decrease in production quality lead to the broke company that still exists. Due to their lack of funds, they sacrifice losing their fanbase to cater towards casual gamers.
Due to terrible sales in North America, SEGA will not port certain games over (Phantasy Star Online 2, Yakuza, etc.). It's sad to see them this way; it's like watching someone with some much promise and potential turn out to be a lazy bum at the end of the day.
Emulators already support Netplay, so this isn't anything unheard of.
All it is, is two players connecting to a server and sending button inputs to each other while both players run the game locally. The game would still be running the original code, the only difference is that the games might desync if a button input doesn't get sent correctly. However, with modern connections this tends to not be much of an issue.
Neither was atari but their collection has online multiplayer for all the games
Do you mean the ultimate genesis collection?
I bet that foot is in your mouth right about now. Haha.
