PS4 controller - is there a way to make it work with the Sega Mega Drive Collection?

I have a PS4 controller on my laptop and it works perfectly with most games, especially with the DS4 Xinput Wrapper, but the Mega Drive Classics don't want to work with it. It always resets the settings to keyboard controls as soon as I start up a game. Anyone found out a way to get this to work? Would really like to play those on my tv with the wireless controller.

I just realised, this is a problem of the options menu. It doesn't save any settings. Not the resolution settings, not the window mode settings, not the controller settings. Tried running it in different compatibility settings, didn't help. Looks like it's broken.

I have a similar problem with my ps3/pc controller, its direction buttons don't work on sega games. When I try to assign the buttons, direction buttons don't appear in the menu.

Ok, I emailed back and forth with the Sega support on this topic. What worked for me was setting the resolution to 1080p. It appears that setting the resolution to higher options results in somehow corrupted option files. So just set them to 1080p, then save the changes, close the Genesis Collection, reopen it and apply all the other settings in the options menu that you want. Afterwards all the settings should be saved and all the games should run flawlessly.
