I finally finished the XP code finding and i have now all the XP codes for all playable characters even the hidden ones so if someone is interested to have them then pm me and i'll send you the cht file that you'll just have to load with Cheat Engine. The only annoying thing is you will have to set all the values almost each times you will use cheats with the Sega Geneisis Classics emulator. On other thing to remember, using Cheat Engine with the Sega emulator results in the in-game save function of Shining Force to be disabled BUT the build-in 5 save slots of the emulator work perfectly.
I discovered that an XP value of 101 instead of 99 makes the character level up even when they are attacked by an enemy. I also discovered that the Chaos Breaker can be used by the 2 flyers (Amon and Balbaroy) and they can even use the freeze 3 spell of the Chaos Breaker if they use it as item in battle. Now they are useful lol.
I'm still trying to find the spell codes for the main character to have him use more useful spells than Egreess which is useless since there is the angel wings that do the same thing.
NOTE : Only Yahourt(the squirel-like useless character with the helmet) don't have the XP code. It's useless to have it since that character is locked at lv1 no matter what.
That's all for now.
EDIT : Found them !!!!
Cheat Engine file for Shining Force 1
Unfortunately the stupid filter of Steam always remove the link so here is a derivative :
h tt p://www .mediafire. com/view/wchh1ka84x3kzfb/ ShinningForceOnSegaClassics.CT
Just remove the spaces and you'll be able to download the file.
Included in the file are the following codes :
Quick levelup ALL Chararters including the hidden ones : give a value of "101" to all xp codes.
Effect : all characters selected are leveling up everytime they attack or get hit by an enemy.
Max HP/MP for the Hero - give these codes a value of 99 (not more or else the game will crash)
Effect : if all 4 codes are ON, the Hero is invincible and has unlimited MP
Magic codes for the Hero
Effect : Give the Hero up to 4 spells to use in battle
Magic codes are the following :
0 - heal lv1
1 - aura lv1
2 - detox
3 - quick
4 - slow
5 - boost
6 - dispell
7 - shield
8 - muddle
9 - blaze lv1
10 - freeze lv1
11 - bolt lv1
12 - desoul lv1
13 - egress
15 - sleep
64 - heal lv2
65 - aura lv2
66 - detox lv2
67 - quick lv2
68 - slow lv2
69 - boost lv2 - 0MP
70 - dispell lv2 - 0MP
71 - shield lv2 - 0MP
72 - muddle lv2 - 0MP
73 - blaze lv 2
74 - freeze lv2
75 - bolt lv2
76 - desoul lv2

132 - slow lv3 0MP

137 - blaze lv3
138 - freeze lv3

194 - detox lv4 0MP ********
195 - quick lv4 0MP ********
196 - slow lv4 0MP *********

203 - bolt lv4 *************
204 - desoul lv4 0MP *******

207 - sleep lv4 0MP ********
Personally i use 193(Aura lv4), 201(Blaze lv4), 202(Freeze lv4) and 203(Bolt lv4) as spells but of course you can choose any of the spells above.
NOTE : All the spells with the "0MP" mention are making the game crash randomly so don't use them.
Also included the codes of the first post.
How to use the file :
1 - launch Shining Force with the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive Classics emulator
2 - load your game
3 - launch Cheat Engine
4 - Choose the prosess with "Sega" name
5 - open the cheat table folder with the open file button of Cheat Engine
6 - select the CT file called "ShinningForceOnSegaClassics.CT"
7 - check all the codes you want to enable and set the values you want (101 for xp codes and 99 for the others if you want every thing max out.
8 - if you are using the magic codes please refer to the spell list above to set the appropriate values for the cheats.
9 - The HP/MP and the stats codes for the Hero don't have to always be enabled
Any questions pm me :)
Have fun :D

Also there is a few things to do to make the cheats work(just a reminder)
1 - Run the Sega emulator, launch the Shining Force and LOAD YOUR SAVED GAME(works better if you saved in one of the 5 save slots of the emulator because the save function of the game don't always works and it's completely dissabled with the cheats)
2 - Open Cheat Engine and select the Sega emulator process with the flashing button at the top left of Cheat Engine window. The process is called "SegaGenesisClassics.exe" with a series of numbers preciding the name.
3 - Load the file i provided(the .CT file)
4 - Set the value you want, for XP it's 101 to level up even when the enemy is attacking your character( 99 if you only want to level up when your character is doing an action like attacking or healing someone)
Note that the Main Character stats can be over 99 but it makes the game bug randomly so just put 99 to all stats and you should not have any problem.
5 - Finally, you have to enable the cheats one by one by clicking the little square at the left of each cheat. Enabled cheats will have a "X" in their square.
In short, try to run both Cheat Engine and the Sega emulator as administrator and follow the instructions above and it should work.
Tell me if it works that way - it should work but i'm not familar with Windows 10 and from what i heard from my firends running under Windows 10 it seams to have the same compatibility problems as Vista had but at a smaller scale.
Anyway keep me inforned.
Check if the value box is hidden by a window(like the one of the Sega emulator) because the box for the value tend to appear in the middle of the screen and therefore behind any non-minimized windows. Minimize all non-minimized windows and drag the Cheat Engine window to the far right of your screen. That way the popup won't be hidden by any windows.
If the popup don't appear try "Alt+Tab" to see what window is open and if the popup is showing while you are doing that it only means you need to select it by navigating your way to it with "Alt+Tab". It might sound odd but sometimes it can be useful.
Other than that i don't see what could be the problem if all the above don't work.
Keep me informed.
As i said earlier you have to load your saved game before activating the codes or else Cheat Engine won't have any based address to work with. Also be sure to have to correct process selected or else, once again, Cheat Engine won't have anything to work with.
Maybe there is something in Windows 10 preventing Cheat Engine to hack memory values of a program. Check if there is any anti-hack software in Windows 10, if there is an anti-hack software or function try to disable it and see if you can enter the value. As i mentioned earlier i don't know Windows 10 much so i don't know how it interact with programs like Cheat Engine who basically hack the memory location of a program and forces new values to be applied over the old ones.
I just thought about something, have you tried to run Cheat Engine aith Windows XP compatibility? Since it's working well under XP setting the compatibility to Windows XP could solve the problem. I can't try it myself but i think it worth a try.
Of course the last resort could be to format your HD and install Windows XP lol. Kidding aside i'm sure the codes work since i'm using them and i shown them in the video. My old dinosaur is not strong enough to both run a fullscreen recording of the desktop and move the mouse at the same time lol. I tried to record a tutorial video of how to make the codes work with all the steps but when i tried to do that my old pc didn't like it lol.
Anyways i hope it would work for you. If works on Windows XP SP3 (thats the OS i'm running) it should also works on Windows 7(when i had that Windows installed i ran Cheat Engine as administrator and the codes for my PS2 emulator worked perfectly) but Windows 8 and 10 i never had the chance(or the badluck :P ) to run those OS.
I'll keep you informed if i find anything usefull.
EDIT : Turned out your are not alone with this problem, i just found a forum speaking about Cheat Engine having incompatibility issues with Windows 10.
So looks like Windows 10 is not perfect after all :P
For Windows 10 users ...
Problem:
- When I try to change the value of an address on the address list, the value will turn into "??"
Possible solution :
- However, if I change the value by browsing the memory and change the value directly, it wont turn into "??"
So according to this guy if the value is changed from the memory list(the list of addresses at the left when searching for codes) he can change the value and it doesn't change back to "??" so for those having this problem try this out and tell me if it works that way.
UPDATE: Found your youtube vid, and that solved most everything! Must play SF in simple launcher, not full launch. Something about the vid room screws with the mapping. Still can't get the items and magic to work for main, but all the XP boxes will check.
Ok. I got the ones needed working. Now... any like the quick level for shining force 2? I am confused a little bit by cheat engine. The item codes and ??. Item value is ?? and cant be changed. Tried searching the memory, but there are so many, and none of the addresses match what this page says. Which one was I looking for? I wanna change certain early/midgame weapons to late game ones. Change shortsword, middle sword and long sword to chaos breaker, and 2 light swords. Change medical herb to infinite turbo pepper.
Edit: so sometimes the cheat engine will pick up on the values that were ??? originally. However, the values change every time it scans and it sometimes reverts back to ???. Additionally, sometimes it will and sometimes it won't allow the change to apply and it never actually applies the changes to the game. Trying to give a move value of 16 to all characters or have infinite turbo pepper to do so.
Note: I found the problem. But the solution is... idk. I need help. The problem is, when I search the memory files that have ??? They don't exist. They cannot be found. Frequency of oocurance 90%
