An amateur group has been working for SEVEN years on this project. A big remake of the Streets of Rage series, complete with all enemies and playable characters, even the secret ones like Ash, Roo, Shiva... Even Electra and Mr.X are playable in this VERY POLISHED, refined and wonderfully made, game, which albeit amateur, feels and plays like a PROFESSIONAL work!

They even released the maker, so you can either make from scratch, or edit an already existing, mod... The community is very live and a plethora of mods are already around, most of them EXCEPTIONALLY WELL made, too, like the SOR 1, 2, 3 faithful remakes, the V4 remake, way of the warrior, rage in time and the Knights of the Round, Warriors of Fate and King of Dragons! Hell, they even made a golden axe trilogy mod, crossover with Streets of Rage!

Please don't drop any hammers, this game has been FREE, no one charges anything for it. They didn't steal any code or material from Sega, they created everything from scratch. This is an EXAMPLE to everyone, how well in modern times an old game's remake can trully be. It is entertaining even for the new generation kiddies! They even added different stage routes and plot twists, some to match new characters like Rudra (a kunoichi), a loot system and a shop to unlock the players/cheats/game artwork, plus a great soundtrack mixed and face lifted. It is worth to note that you can have 3 different versions of Axel, Blaze, and more than one version of a character appearing in more than one game, with differences in both stats and moveset, depending on game of origin. Also you can have both the 3's gauge and 1's police call. This is a real gem, a banned masterpiece, which trully and honestly offends NO ONE and is a genuine and great piece of work. If only they made them like they used to, with talent and passion...

Well, if you believe the originals are better, as i said already before, there are the mods of the originals for SORR that are FAITHFUL remakes (1 and 2 collection and soon 3 will be out). You can play them with choosing characters who appeared only there at will and change the rules/AI in game options, so you can actually DUPLICATE the original experience, but on the SORR engine (like SOR1 rules, SOR2 rules etc).

The remake is better because it combines ALL players (including the secret ones Ash, Roo, Shiva of bare knuckle 3), ALL enemies, ALL stages from ALL games, even from the JAPANESE EXCLUSIVE BARE KNUCKLE 3. Ash (the gay fighter) was present in the japanese version and was removed from the originals and the games sold here, in european and american release, the entire STORY of 3 changed (police chief/general, war and terrorism, laxine bombs etc) and both 2 and 3, in any location other than japanese, had a plethora of CENSORSHIP and cover ups... From Mr. X's puffing cigar, to blaze's upskirt fanservice, to female enemies dressed in whole body dress instead of sexy outfits and so on.

The remake also restored and UPGRADED the motorbike stages from japanese 3, that were incomplete and accessible only through cheats in the original game. Try those and see the fun factor for yourself! Also, having all gameplay features/elements happily wrapped up and combined in one package is something awesome even if you hate it; running in 1/2 and using the special gauge/move, calling police in 2/3 etc. Heck, they even created an enemy that was teased on the original game's cover but was never incorporated in game itself! This game is a live testament that amateur people can achieve a BETTER job than professionals, who themselves disregard their own legacy and leave it gather dust, rot and die. 7 years they worked on it and it really payed off. This was the first amateur game i played and i liked so much and i have played the originals, back in time.

Seriously, if you are not a Sega employee and being rightfully pised from the whole matter, i seriously cannot understand just where you are coming from. SOR Remake is unanimously the best fan game ever made (and i am not alone saying this).

this is very very true, because sorr is only for fans.

could it draw attention of those who haven't tried the originals back in the day? i don't think so... sorr has nothing original gameplay-wise, story-wise and style-wise in general by nowadays stadards.

As others have said it combines the elements of the original sor games, plus the music is wonderfully remastered. You and Kira don't seem to realize that if you were to play it more than once you would see that it actually is the Streets of Rage game we all have been craving for...we'll maybe not sequel wise, but shows what we the fans enjoy about the franchise.

Keep your heads up your asses and go back to playing Final Fight

I've played the originals and playing the remake is like taking a breath of fresh air. Besides don't you want to play as Shiva from SOR2

taking a breath of fresh air... except that it's a game which is not streets of rage. but it uses the name and skins from it. it also uses many skins from other games, like street figter... i think, i even seen graffiti saying "namco" somewhere. and who knows what other copy right issues it would cause.

don't get me wrong, if you would re-read what everyone on here said yourself, you would see that i didn't said anything bad about sorr. it's just... it seems to me that you guys are so spoiled with roms and rom hacks that you forgot what's an original game like.

You know any Final Fight fan could use what you just said because Streets of Rage uses a lot of assets from the game Final Fight thus making the streets of rage games unoriginal (Not that I'm one of those guys cause Streets of Rage is more fun to me).

Care to upload some screenshots about the Namco graffiti and the street fighter skins? Otherwise what you just said was one of the most Stupidest things I have ever read

Newer mods are absolutely great and full of nice ideas! For example, the "Battle for Rio" mod, which is now updated (rio olympics edition)! Or the 25 anniversary mod! And there are more coming. The quality is high even if they are only fan-creation! This game is simply something else!

I'd rather just play the original. It plays great and doesn't need any improving as it is. I've never really been a fan of remakes. I wouldn't fault the creators though, at least they have a fun hobby.

i'm not even purist... i only prefere things created out of nothing.

you know, people tend to forget small details what was making one thing or another great very fast.

if someone would start making streets of rage remake 2, that thing would be even further from the originals. right? right. not to mention that most likely creators of the original sorr wouldn't feel very comfortable about the fact... or at least they'd be critical (if they'd care about quality).

Even the MODS are bad, not bad because of the creators, i respect the work they did actually put in those, i played them (the SOR1 2 and 3 special) it's respected in term of image, like the enemies spawn, they hard worked to find a way to put pssages that are impossible to put in remake but again, no gameplay, nada, nothing, cause it's on the Remake code, that makes the size of the map screen different / moves broken / unbalanced and AI of final fight instead of fighting you they run like stupid chickens on the screen there is absolutely nothing from the unique gameplay of the SOR games and where the problems on the trilogy was minor RNG SORR is full Random there is nothing more random than this fan game xD

The game being bad doesn't make it unfun to play, it's fun, for 1 time a month, it's way too boring and long to be played like the originals.

The only video i might do on this fan game is the best part level, the one with Hard Gay dancing on the pole ~
