Report a translation problem
So look on your controller and see if you have a mode button somewhere on it. If it does you should be fine. If it doesn't you can probably still use it but might have to deal with the occasional inconvenience of remapping one of the x/y/z keys to mode for specific games that were incompatible with the six button controllers. This should be rare, since even for games like Sonic 1 I don't recollect actually using the mode button. Nevertheless, it may be necessary since I see no other reason for Sega to include the option in their button mapping utility. I doubt it was ever used in gameplay.
