32x is a completely different animal though; it would need to emulate the master/slave SH2 processors running independent of the Genesis cores.

True.
A big difference with that version is the option to switch between the U.S. and Japanese soundtracks, as well as the option to play as Tails (though playing as him removes Amy. Sorry Tails, no hugs for you...)
They had super-awesome versions of Sonic 1 and 2 on appstore. It doesn't makes much sense that those aren't released on PC - Sonic CD is already here.
And S3&K deserves such port too.
Still, I guess it would be somehow possible to launch the game inside the hub, rendering it to the TV screen. But... I don't know, as it's not an easy task and there's so much to do in the hub and the emulator, I'm sure this will never happen.
I'd love Sonic 1 and 2 remasters in Steam too.
They do actually exist, and they're based on the same codebase as Christian Whitehead's Sonic CD remaster that's available here on Steam. To date though, they've only appeared on Android and iOS. They're great fun if you can play them with a proper gamepad (and it's less of a chore to get the Chaos Emeralds). Still, we do need them on PC.
