Good Sonic 3 (with or without & Knuckles) hacks?

I feel like there are far less hacks of those ones compared to the flood of Sonic 1 and 2.

Others are simpler such as "Amy Rose in Sonic 3" or "Metal in Sonic 3".

My biggest gripe is when a hack tries to change the palette and music (for the worse).



PS: after thinking and searching for mods/hacks/whatever..

I came to the conclusion that Sonic 3&K is probably too hard to properly mod with it (this is why there's a ton of Sonic 1 or 2 hacks and only two Sonic CD mods).

Thankfully Sonic 3 AIR is a really mod-friendly fangame that improves things a lot and I think that I'd better go for it than hoping to see a mod of the original game.
