Linux support
Hi Linux users,

Community member 'sairuk' and others in this forum have pointed out missing executables for for some Linux users who purchased certain packages in the past. We've worked with Valve to sort these issues and to label all games in the packages as Linux compatible, so these issues should now all be fixed.

Thanks for your persistence in helping us drill down to the cause of these issues.

If you continue to experience issues with Linux support, please contact SEGA customer service: www.sega.com/support

We hope you enjoy SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics on your Linux machines!

Thanks,
SEGA Dev

having the same problem with fullscreen mode on Lubuntu 18.04 LTS, Acer Aspire 7750G-6662 Laptop with dual Intel + Radeon HD6650M gpu running the Mesa drivers, TV mode works fine.

Не хватает русского перевода в этом эмуляторе. Любители уже давно перевели почти все здешние игры на русский... А официальные игнорируют :(

Is there a way to set the simple launcher to run in the games launch options? It doesn't give you the option to do so when you boot up the game.

There is no simple launcher for the Linux version, and even on Windows simple launcher is being abandoned anyway... I'm also sad, because I really want something like a "traditional" emulator interface, so the simple launcher was a good start, but it did have bugs like showing too many positions and it does not allow access to the mods...

The bedroom is really cumbersome to use and it really does not fit my taste. And on Linux it's also quite slow, no matter what settings I use - the highest graphical filter gives a jerky framerate, whereas on Windows no problems on highest settings. And no fullscreen emulation as well.

Get RetroArch (retroarch.com), it's really a superb emulation suite. It's also amazing on Android mobile devices. There are plenty of filters to choose from, try the blur glow one, it will definitely give you a wonderful new experience.

Works quite bad on Linux Fedora 31. And it's not my computer or Linux. The bedroom is cumbersome to use and runs jerky, and in fullscreen mode the screen is just black.

Give us the games SEGA - in ROM and ISO format, so we can use our favorite emulators that do work. I prefer to play on Android and Linux with RetroArch, which is just amazing. They did all the work and it just SHINES✨✨✨ Give use the games please and concentrate your efforts on direct ports and native games😘

The ROMs are available in the "Sega Classics" Steam install directory.

Just tried launching Sonic 3 & Knuckles, all the TV screen displays is a black screen but I can hear the music just fine. Linux mint 19.1 (cinnamon)

Same problem here.
Unless Manjaro 18.1.4 shows some scrambled picture at fullscreen.
I tried a Ryzen R7 1700X with Manjaro 18.1.4 KDE
Ryzen R5 3500U with integrated graphics on Ubuntu 19.10
AMD Athlon 220GE with integrated graphics on Ubuntu 19.10

+1, no fullscreen, only tv mode. This hurts performance badly when playing on the laptop. Because even on the fastest graphics setting the rendering of the room using a lot of resources compared to the emulation itself...

When is the multi cross-platform PC ?

Example :
A Linux player can join a Windows player and vice versa
A Mac player can join Windows player and vice versa
A Linux player can join Mac player and vice versa
I'm on Linux, my friends are on Windows and we can't play together.

I must not be the only one in this situation.
I made this request several times, without return from SEGA. So I want to know if an update can come to term to make this functionality possible ...

Thank you :)

PS: I invite Linux users who want to see this functionality happen!

Try installing on Linux the Windows version of Steam (.exe) with 🍷Wine🍷, the simple launcher works for me on Fedora - for the Genesis games. But I suggest turning off all acceleration in Steam settings if you get a black Steam window. And using the "small mode" for Steam also helps. The game room is either very slow to load or doesn't load for me (black screen, no audio).

Is the VR environment windows only?

With wine (proton included) the game remains frozen on a black screen outside of "small mode" on Manjaro.
I tried a lot of things:
- Install DirectX9
- Modify the OS (Win7 instead of Win10)
- Install dotnet 45 or higher
- Use WineD3D instead of DXVK
- activate noesync
...

Nothing helps, the game remains frozen on a black screen.

I'm on Fedora and the simple launcher works. Did you try running the simple launcher like on Windows? As I said previously, the game room didn't work, but maybe because I didn't wait enough for it to load, after about a minute of having a black screen, I closed it. But as suggested before, the _simple_launcher_ works - it's a small window like a third party emu, not the game room. Look up Google to see how it looks (you can get fullscreen from that, and cloud saves, but it's different from the game room and mods are only available from there).

So again, I have a traditional Windows version of Steam installed on Wine, and the SIMPLE LAUNCHER works on Fedora - for me. It's not a Proton on Linux client workaround.

And also, I turned off all graphical acceleration because I had window drawing error, but maybe only turning off specific acceleration will suffice.
