Controller doesn't work after Update?

So I used to play the classic Sonic games here but I didn't touch it for a while.
Now I'm back into it and somehow the controller I always used (Wii classic controller) doesn't work anymore. The game recognizes the controller but I can't do any inputs.

I noticed this game got some updates while I was gone, so my question here is:
Is there something I need to do here or does this game suddenly only support X-Box controllers?

I just want some enlightenment, thx.

I think that the 3d room only support X-input controllers too and we can't change the buttons too only choose a pre-configured layout.but I think that it will work only on the simple launcher but it doesn't support online multiplay or achievements.....

Simple Launcher doesn't recognize it at all.
It used to work in 3D room back then and I could even map buttons however I wanted, but I guess they just patched it out, which would be the biggest BS I've ever heard of.

It's pretty much like this for every modern game with every controller, don't expect anything to work properly other than the 360 controller

Yeah I definitely see this becoming the norm and in all honesty, it starts getting annoying.
I guess X360CE is always an option, but it doesn't always work (haven't tried it here yet) and I shouldn't have to "mod" every game in order to use my preferred controller.

It's still the first time, I see controller support being PATCHED OUT of the game and I simple don't get, why they would do this.

My xbox controller used to work perfectly, I hadn't played the game for a few months... I've come back to an update and now the controller won't work... I can't even navigate the room from left as it's stuck there and when I load games in simple loader they're all sped up... wth :/ This used to be so awesome and now I can't even play it!!!!!

there was a update today, now we can change the individual buttons on the Hub (3d room), try change it.
