Heads up, Shining Force 1 and 2 are not actually the original
They have been hex editted to make them more difficult. I still have my original copies of both games, so I can verify it. Fact is, someone who ported this over apparently thinks they are a funny mother ****** by changing the game designers game at the source. All that makes that person is a worthless douchebag tool. Know how i figured it out? First battle, every enemy monster gets 2 moves to your 1, They get two turns before your entire small team ever has a chance to finish its first turn cycle. There is also the fact that the hero apparently can be one shot, by anything in the game, because the defense potions, when used on him, apparently do absolutely nothing now. his DP never goes up, even when having gained a level, and it states it goes up, it actually is not.

So basically, **** you people who did such a craptastic port and decided to hex edit it because you didnt like the original.

Are you talking about Shining Force 1 or 2? Like, which one did you check, exactly? And if it's SF2, then on which difficulty?
Have you played the Steam version on Simple Launcher, through the new 3D Hub or have you played the uncompressed roms using your own emulator?
Have you compared hex?

I'm... sorry? I've never played Shining Force 1 and 2, but are you sure the version you have isn't a different revision? I know Rocket Knight Adventures has a much harder 'Normal' mode in the US version than the EU one.

Actually, I didnt bother to answer a redundant question. Here is the reason why, I owned these games brand new off the shelf when they were first produced, I am also one of the few people in the US who still owns the rom generator hardware that copies games from nes, snes and sega to a 1.44mb floppy disk.

I also still have a working sega sitting on my shelf, but i bought this, because my last tv died, and i have to replace it. I know exactly what the game is supposed to be doing. I have only likely beaten it at least once a month since I was 10. As for Bimbo and other, its obvious that its a fake account being run by the same person. Only an idiot would believe for a second there could be two such as yourself that would such a precise method of spelling, word separation and the last name. Nice try, now sod off.
I would rather see it for myself. Could you please answer those questions so I could recreate same experience and compare?
(What did you think that was, silly?)

All you have to do is play. You will notice nearly every monster is getting two turns before your entire team gets its first whole turn round robin. I had one battle that a bat took 5 turns near back to back, and obliterated the entire party in the very first chapter of Shining Force 1.

Currently, with SF2, nearly everything is getting double attacks every time they go into an attack. I am stuck at the Kraken, because it seems that even though i took the precaution of cycling battles a few times, to get extra experience and levels for all characters, they can completely bypass defense and pull a one hit ko even though everyone, except the newest addition of Luke, is nearing level 20.

I just loaded my sega console unit up on my roommates tv and have been playing to that point, and never had an issue on the original console. its playing as it should, obliterating most things in one to two hits, and my guys can take the hits, but whoever made this emulated copy, they have editted the crap out of it. My strongest fighter, able to dish out near killing blows on even death archers in the battle before this, did 2 damage to the kraken head.

Was you playing Steam version through simple launcher, through the 3D hub or you took the uncompressed rom from the folder and played it with another emulator? If another emulator, then which one?
And ah, both SF1 and 2, I see. SF2 on normal, right?
And I will check on that.
Alright, I have run a hex comparison.
Both compressed and uncompressed Shining Force roms here are identical to original US version.
Both compressed and uncompressed Shining Force 2 roms here are identical to original US version as well.

Must be emulator fault then. Gotta check on how they fare.

Uhh... I wasn't trolling. Looks like Foxysen answered my question for you, though.
Solverbolt 3 grudnia 2016 o 18:46
Yeah foxy, up to desktop kingdom, every single monster gets two to three moves to each team member move, bishops have unlimited mana, they will use 10 mana on heal 3, and then get a second turn back to back, and have full mana again. If its not the rom, then the emulator has been tampered with.

I started this game on Shining Force 2 on normal, because i just wanted to relax and be able to enjoy the story without the grind, but apparently some ******* ***** **** ************ has decided to troll on anyone trying to even play, which destroys the possability of people like Holy who never had a chance to play this title when it was new. There is also the fact that Steam apparently temp suspended my ability to even use discussion boards, because I have no problem calling them on their censorship ********

there is also the fact that items that should be there are not. Pegasus Wing never spawned, and i have gone block by block searching every inch of Pacalon. And this is not the first item that did not spawn. there are a few of the promotion items that never generated. So your claim that its unchanged i think is inaccurate.

Which emulator are you using? From what I understand, the Simple Launcher and the Room Hub emulators are not the same, so you might want to try the other to see if the issue is there.

In my own experience, I've had no issues with SF2, but I am also playing the SF2 Shining Tactics Mod, which is having none of the issues you are describing. I'll load up a game of standard after a while and see if the issue is there in the Room Hub.
Solverbolt 4 grudnia 2016 o 23:14
Yeah. at this point, I am no longer to trust anything that comes out of Foxysen's mouth, as I am witnessing a level of screwed up gameplay of the likes i have not seen since the first star wars game on SNES back in the 90's. I just watched my entire party get wiped off the board before i even had a single turn for any of them, the monster team was able to move across the board, getting 4 turns in a row, per unit, before it switched to another monster, and they are all getting critical hits, every single time.

My guess here, Foxysen is nothing more than a steam lackey, likely willing to discredit anyones claims on any game, that what they are seeing is not actually happening.

Basically Foxy, go ♥♥♥♥ yourself

i remember SF 2 scaling with level in certain areas, if you get a bit over leveled at certain points the game got super hard. I think it scales up till you hit like lvl 60 or something. either way i never remember either of the games being too hard. SF1 hero was always my big dmg. chaos breaker so good.
Kailee Cain 7 grudnia 2016 o 7:03
Althos, I just played through the first battle in normal on SF2, and had absolutely no issues. None of the enemies went twice before I went once, and I tanked multiple hits on all three characters with no issue.

I asked before, but it begs to be known. Which emulator are you using (Game Room or Simple)? Have you personally modded your game? Is there any way we could get a video of the issue, preferably during the first or second battle to demonstrate the problem?

I love me some Shining Force, and my recollection of both games are that they are rather difficult games to begin with, but I'm not seeing the issues that you have brought up. So more information is needed, instead of arguing with us or lowering ourselves to the level of cursing at those who are legitimately attempting to help us.
