Playing on Valve Index
Is there particular setup I need to do for proper compatibility with Index? First problem I had was it never let me pick up the ammo belt or ammo, although that was fixed by exiting and restarting and didn't seem related to Index. Now I'm at the part where I need the key to the car, but my "inventory" is full and I can't drop anything. Pressing the button it shows me does nothing. I can swap stuff by gripping the new thing, but not actually drop anything.

Other oddities:
Couldn't pick up the gun in the intro with my right hand (both times). Had to pick up with left and switch hands.

The ammo belt needs to be moved out, I run into my real self when reloading (I'm not THAT fat, and this wasn't a problem when I played on a friend's oculus or Vive, not sure which).

Are those masks/hats I keep finding supposed to do something? I try to "put them on" by moving them close to my face/head, but when I let go of the grip they just fly away.

Why does it seem like the highest quality set has the worst support in games? Index support seems like an afterthought to most VR games.

this game was on of the first VR games this came out in 2016 also you might have a hat on try removing it then putting the mask on.

The game was definitely not made for the Index controllers. To drop an item in your hand hold down the release mag button and a circle will appear after a bit then release and the gun will drop.
The touch mechanics are finicky when it comes to picking up that you're trying to pick stuff up. found that clenching your middle finger close to the trigger button works best. Reloading should be easy, drop out the spent mag and hit your stomach with the gun hand.
You can only wear one mask/hat at a time, you must take off the one you already have on to put on a new one. Just seems to be a looks mechanic for when you're playing with others.

In my opinion, Valve Index controllers are cheaply made, and the buttons are not very intuitive (with exception of the "grab" function). People complain about those controllers all the time. I own some, and I don't like them. Fortunately there is a solution. You can use HTC Vive controllers with the Valve Index headset. Note: There are at least 3 versions of the Vive controllers, and they all look about the same: Pre controllers, Standard controllers, and the "newer" version controllers. You need the "newer" model controllers. Not sure what the actual controller version names are.
