Smooth as silk on my i5 3570K overlocked with a GTX 1070. This is with the enhanced gore system enabled too. Just completed the game also, loved every minute of it :)

@BillHicks

If you are running the same system specs as the recommended specs for Arizona Sunshine you should do ok.

I used to run with GTX970 and i7 4790K with 32GB system ram / SSD for OS and SSD for games.
Every thing ran great for me thou I couldnt run games with max settings or supersampling it would seem that the video ram on the GTX970 was holding me back.
Most likely you will run into a similar issue with the GTX980 as it only has 4GB VRam.

I upgraded to a GTX1080Ti and VR has been so good I max out all settings I can find and push the AA + 2x supersampling.

I would try for a full room scale setup if you can (thou the Rift takes up 4xUSB ports to do this) being able to walk around and interact with the game like you are there adds so much to the immersion making for a much better experiance.

With lots of titles now availible for VR and more on the horizon now would be a great time to get VR.

May the force be with you.

Is video ram a bottleneck for VR?
Diesel Jul 30, 2017 @ 12:44pm
Well only cards that are vr compatible are 3gb vram and above and with 3 gb you cant do any supersampling and or really enhance the graphics at all. Running a 3700k i7 with 16 gig ddr3 and msi gtx 1070 and game runs great with supersampling increased (I tried it with 8 gb ddr3 and it ran the same also). Onboard VRam is a bottleneck in VR 3gb being the minimum. I think you would be more satisfied with VR with 6gb GPU vram or above.

Hmm, I am running i7 7700K and a GTX 1080 amp extreme and if I crank up SS on the oculus tool the game freeezes in the menu. if I set any setting higher in the settings of the game it also freezes. very strange. once I have set settings higher, constant freezes occour in the trailer menu and no chance to revert to default other than deleting and redownloading the game.

A charm. I also do not understand why the game has deleted my save game at the mine entrance/ roller coaster and puts me at my base when I click continue.

very strange.
