We don't know how the world has been built. The most obvious problem will be janky animations, especially in first person, but they seem to have built a complete 3d world and I'm not sure if the camera can be rotated, if so if it may be possible, but likely it would be janky.
Personally the first thing I will be trying to get working is 3d, but after that I may have a play around with some commands and see what is possible and what is not. I imagine we will be waiting for more in depth mod support though before anything like this is possible (and even then it really depends if an individual comes along with the talent etc needed along with the desire and if it is even possible with how the game has been made) if commands are of limited use.

If memory serves the 1.666 is the update to (or inspired by) 1.333. Personally I thought the game was much better in FPS mode vs the OG game (controls took a hot minute to get decent on the Steam Deck).
Frankly I think all that is required to install either is to "Subscribe" on the workshop page of your choosing (or lots) then Steam Downloads and installs the mod for you. Afterwards it is just a toggle inside the game's main menu to go back and forth between 'total conversions.'
Edit: from 1.666's description:
> > > How is this different from 1.333? < < <
Both mods have a lot in common since they're built on the same foundation.
1.333 is closer to vanilla experience:
Original black & white palette
No new maps
No changes on vanilla maps
No changes in music
No changes in enemies
All cheats are unlocked
All maps are unlocked
1.666 is reinterpretation of vanilla game:
Everything is colored
Two new maps
Slight changes in vanilla maps
New music
Tougher battles
Most powerful cheats are locked behind progression
Maps are locked behind standard progression
