Venting Gas--something more to it?

Hello fellow defusers and experts.

My girlfriend and I are loving this game and blazing through it the best we can. We are on Section 5 now, the Challenging modules. I believe it is 5.2 which is "Computer Hacking". It has 7 modules, 4 of which are Gas Vent modules.

We figured from the lack of in-depth directions for this module that all we needed to do was vent the gas when it asked. However, even though we did that constantly for all four modules, we still ended up exploding from a Gas Vent. First I was the Expert and it exploded a couple times on my girlfriend so we switched (typically I am the defuser). I noticed that sometimes the module says "Detonate? Y/N" instead of "Vent Gas? Y/N" and I was sure to always hit NO when a module said that.

Still, at some point I exploded while I was flipping the bomb around, but I KNOW that no Gas Vent was close to going off--I had just vented them!

Is there a deeper strategy to these modules, such as only venting sometimes and not always?

There is no strategy to the Gas Vents. The only times it can explode is when you say "Yes" to "Detonate?", "No" to "Vent Gas" or the module's timer runs out.

They rearm at different times too. You may hit Y or N at nearly the same time on all 4, but often what happens is 1-2 of them kick back on shortly after once again, while the others will take a bit of time before rearming. Have to really watch them...gets very tricky.

I too couldn't figure out why it just blew up sometimes.

That was until I realized that sometimes, the display says "Detonate?". I thought all the displays always said "Vent gas?", but apparently not.

So all you need to do is to hit YES when it asks you to vent, and be careful that when it says "Detonate" you hit NO.

It would be funny if the vent gas module had more creative wording for example.

"Don't don't vent gas."

The only way to get strikes or immediate explosion is saying yes on detonate or the timer running out. If you DID press no on vent gas, it would just tell you to press yes
