You can have any number of experts, I've found that 3 is the sweet spot so far, though most bombs can comfortably be done with 2.
So, you can have those additional bomb manual reading people sitting next to you, or you can have them on a voice call via Skype or Teamspeak or any other service you wish. So long as you can talk to each other and one of you has the game, you can play.
And as many people can play with you as you wish, really. Though the more there are the more confusing it can get.
Sometimes people even like to play with multiple bomb defusers describing the bomb and only one expert with the manual -- how you split the roles is up to you!
That's a better multitask-er than I. I can't work though Complicated Wires and the Button at the same time.
:) The most high level bomb defusers tackle multiple modules at one time, but if you're playing with more than one Defuser, there is always a limitation that only one person can interact with the bomb at a time.
...But sometimes it can be fun at a party to have multiple people able to see the bomb, all trying to describe it at the same time. I suspect this would be the most fun when it's everyone's first time playing the game and communication patterns haven't been established yet.
Well yea, when I play with more than one expert, and I'm the defuser, I assign one or more of them a module that's mostly done by the expert like Complicated Wires or Password, and the expert that's left and I work through the harder ones that take a while, like Simon and Morse Code.
But I wouldn't be able to keep track of 2 different bombs being defused at the same time by two different people if my life depended on it. One bomb with multiple defusers is different.
Edit: I noticed that when I was in the menu, I could switch between KB/Mouse and controller. Can you do that while in room too? That would make it easier to have multiple defusers, take turns passing off the controller and you could still have someone who's more comfortable with the KB/Mouse play.
- Press a button on a gamepad and you will switch to gamepad controls if you weren't already using them.
- Click a button on the mouse and you will switch to mouse controls if you weren't already using them.
We never intended this feature to be used as a hot-swap mid-game, so please let us know if any problems come up if you play this way.
