What I want it to mean: There are going to be other manuals added to the game, the expert gets to choose which manual to use by punching in the right code for that manual. This will make the game and replay even larger.
What I don't want it to mean: The new manual makes the old manual obsolete and we're forever chasing after new manuals, and the game becomes to meta and to dependent on the next manual to come out, which can take a long time.
So people keep using the same manual from day 1 and the replay is larger? How does that work?
Some of the better players have memorized modules already; KrazyCaley already knows 9 of the 12 modules. New manual comes out, all the solutions are different, people have to re-learn. Game replay grows from that (IMHO).
I don't understand how using the same stuff forever is going to help replay.
That's awesome, but just how it's worded it sounds like the old code/manual becomes useless once a new come out. Let hope it won't be.
Let say the new manual is 35 pages, if the old manual can't be used anymore, then we have just the 35 pages, which people will start to memorize. But if the old manual can still be used, then we would have a total 62 pages, and that number will just grow as more manual versions comes out. So once people have forgotten the older manual, and learned the newest. It's possible to go back, and play the old forgotten manual again, with much of it's difficulty restored.
I've only played this as the defuser abouit 20-25 times and very briefly looked at the manual after the first session of about 5-8 attempts. I remember two things within the manual (which luckily hasn't reduced the playability but will help when it is seen) and am starting to see the patterns within the puzzles that are being used.
My concern is that if I switch to using the manual (which admittedly I am hoping to do at some point), it will be a lot easier when I next play as the defuser.
I agree with the post #3 in "What I want it to mean". Even if the same puzzles are used, the way to defuse them could be coded differently for each manual and therefore would increase the playability because you wouldn't be able to use or be able to do what you have become efficient with.

Could you imagine going someplace to order a print of a 200+ page book from www.bombmanual.com? What do you think their reaction would be?
But yea, that's what I'd like to see happen, plus the ability to add workshop modules' manual pages to the book.
I'm thinking it's not there yet because there's no need for it yet.
