Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes

Can deaf people play it?
The game idea is realy appealing to me and im sad that it likely wont work.

i know its one player who sees the bomb and one who has the manual. I did read the bomb manual and there doesnt seem any module that uses sound.

im thinking about using text chat and i guess if im the guy with the manual, i could use voice myself and the disarmer is using chat. Not sure if this would work out.

While I don't think the base game had deaf players in mind, there are definitely ways to do it. You've expressed one way (with the defuser using text to communicate with you). I know there was a group that the defuser used video of himself and communicated only through sign language. There's twitch plays, which is less about you having the game, but gives you a taste of it. So there's options.

Having said that...with the base game, not looking at mods, there's a couple modules that lose a bit of their identity without vocal communication, and the time constraints on the missions may prove quite challenging, especially at first, but I think if you wanted to, you could certainly play without sound.

I'd say it's possible but you'd have to play it differently. I can only imagine that sign language is the way to go with a Zoom call or just IRL would be best. Text is likely way too slow for you to really get anywhere but I'd wager that if you're both fluent in ASL (or your regional variant), it's the closest you can get.
