Memory Module Needs Explaining
Hi. I have a friend that likes playing with me, but they hate On The Subject of Memory, because they don't understand it, and they get mad at me because they don't know what I'm talking about. Any help here!?

Play a few bombs with me and I'll show you the method I use.

At the start you say the number in the display. They start at "Stage 1" and finds the number you said, and tells you which button to push. Then you say the next number that shows up on the display. They find the number you said under "Stage 2", and tells you which button to push. The same in stage 3, 4 and 5.

Use vocabulary like: Display X, Position X, Label X.

This will make your gameplay extremely efficient and consume less time.

That's the technique I use... I'm just looking fopr active players and I'll take every opportunity I can get to get another player on my list...

I try to do that, and they still don't understand

The thing is, sometimes they stay on stage 1 instead of going to stage 2, and they also don't understand that they need number and position to get it right

Yeah as I said: Sounds like you need a (or multiple) better expert(s)...

When you're playing as an Expert (with the manual) you only need to take note of the button label and position. I usually write it in the format 2nd, 3 (where 2nd is the button's position and 3 is the button's label) to avoid confusion. You only need those two pieces of information to make it through all five stages, writing down the displayed number as well will only slow you down. Good luck!

Even better than that is to create a 5 row by 2 column grid, label the top row 1st column as "P" and the top row 2nd column as "#". Then at each stage when you are given the instructions write the position you were told to click in the "P" column on each row and the label in the "#" column...

Thanks everyone!

I make them tell me the 4 digit number followed by the display number 4321-X X will be the number they answer according to the manual and I right this down for each stage so when you need to remember what happened in stage 2 you will know that you hit X

Too complicated. Just ask them what the display is and then tell them what button that need to press and ask for the label that appears on that button. Then just wite that information down in a way that you find easy to reference when needed for that module...

To avoid confusion me and my fiancee use A,B,C,D for positions and 1,2,3,4 for labels.
If they really dont understand the manual, let them read the very clear instructions at the top.
When Annotating this as the expert I always just ask for the button number and position, and then I write it in said position on the page. For example if it is a 4 in the third position I would annotate it as:

XX4

the following sections then just get placed bellow in their proper position, E.g.:

XX4
_2
____3
3
1

its easy to see from here what each stage was (note, I don't write in the underscores, that is just so the numbers would show in proper position on this post haha)
