Also no windowed mode sucks.
Perhaps the devs could release an updated launcher, though I highly doubt that would ever happen. Or Perhaps someone with some techincal know how could modify the launcher, or create a custom one. To support a higher resolution.
Also For anyone wanting to stretch the game to fit your screen, try running the game through TriDef Ignition 3D, not for the 3D of course, although If you want 3D, and have a good GPU by all means go ahead, just make sure to turn off Power 3D. This will force the game to stretch and fit the screen, some things looked a little stretched, but I quite like it like this way anyway.
regardless of which of the three resolution options is chosen.
Go to this site and download dxoveride http://www.humus.name/index.php?page=Cool.
It is a very small zip file. It consist of a d93d.dll hook, that is user customizable to support custom AA and Resolutions. Just go ahead and read the readme file in the zip that you downloaded and follow the instructions for more details.
Though basically what you do, is you copy the .dll and the .ini files to the games install directory. Once you've done that you can cusomize the .ini to your liking by changing the width and height. Then save the .ini file, and then run the game's launcher, make sure all the settings for the graphics options are set to high, as it does seem to affect some lighting effects if turned down. If all went according to plan the game will play in widescreen at 1920*1080, or whatever resolution you set the .ini at!
That's it! Enjoy!! Hope I helped out, cause now I can truly enjoy this great game in 1080p! Also I assume this method would work for other games of similar nature where the resolution is locked down, as it is said in the readme file as well.
making sure my pc wont have a windows 10 automatic repair error before i download anything. my pc has had that issue known and i know now that hard turning off and on your pc can cause it. so i turn my pc off by the power button on the side of the windows button
Thanks for trying but this didn't work for me on Windows 7. I changed the .ini file to set to 1920x1080, but the result is that the game crashes at launch - the options screen never appears.
It's frustrating because I know this game was designed to run in widescreen on the Xbox 360, so playing in 4:3 is pretty terrible.
Hmmm, Could you explain what happens?
Also This trick gets the game in widescreen by 1920*1080, though the in game resolution is still 1024*768. After Playing the game I figured that all this .dll did was just upscale the game, and in turn make the game and HUD widescreen which is a plus.
If you use an Nvidia Card that is powerful enough you can apply custom settings in the Nvidia control panel for the game to make it look much nicer, I should Probably post some screenshots to show that you can indeed get the game to look pretty nice.
I've had no issues running it on Windows 10 with the customisable D93D dll hook, Perhaps try running it with some compatibility settings?
The game never launches. I can see the game executable briefly show up in the task manager when I run it, then it disappears and Steam shows the game as no longer running. The whole process lasts about 2 seconds. There is no screen or error message that appears. If I remove the patch from the installation directory, the game runs fine again.
Did you try running the Direct X setup files included in the games installation folder, or any compatibility settings. Other than that I guess I don't know, I do know that the .dll had issues for me when trying to run it higher than 1920*1080, perhaps try doing 1280*720 instead. Perhaps that may work.
Really sorry this isn't working for you... :(
