Most Final Fantasy's fall in their own unique time lines with a few exceptions.

Suppose to be what happened after ff13, but eventually became its own seperate game, just like ff13 versus became ff 15

It falls nowhere, All FFs are standalone stories, unless its obviously stated other wise, only FFX and FF13 have sequels, all others are independent, this one included.

You are safe to play this one.

Yea, but they add more stuff until, it changed

Oh and btw, before someone else notes, sharing the same mythos dont necesseraly make it in the same universe/story

Its like saying Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons are the same because they have dwarves and elves

same universe because they use similar words to describe the summons and magic, but different worlds or timelines.
UltimateSWX 18/ago./2015 às 9:59
It's just the same mythology. The XIII trilogy, FFXV, and Type 0 share the same mythology but are done by three different directors (although Tetsuya Nomura was originally the director of FFXV to which he handed the project over to Hajime Tabata who was the director for Type 0). Their stories are completely unrelated.

They use the same nova chrysalis concept. Like the 2 post above said. But diiferent gameplay / story
Vladoken 18/ago./2015 às 10:00
It was in the same project (the infamous "Fabula Nova Crystallis") with FF XV, but they share no timeline, only their mythology (crystals, l'Cie & co...)
Gabby 18/ago./2015 às 10:00
It was originally supposed to be in a shared universe with FF13 and FF13 Versus, however, due to timing and delays, Type-0 became it's own world (with the shared l'Cie elements) while FF Versus got scrapped and became a totally new thing altogether (FF15). Type 0 shares a mythos because it was intended to actually be directly connected to FF13. The goddess they worship in Type-0 was supposed to be a crazy reveal in Lightning Returns... heck, the reveal and connections even remain, they simply chose to disassociate.

Alight addendum, Aellian, FF10 and 13 aren't the only games in the franchise with sequels.

FF4 had The After Years
FF5 had an anime sequel (Legend of the Crystals)
FF7 has the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 including Advent Children (movie), Before Crisis (Cell Game), Crisis Core (PSP), and Dirge of Cerberus (PS2)
FF12 had FF12: Revenant Wings on the 3DS, it's also been revealed that FFTA / FFTA2 are related to FF12 and may serve as a prologue series.

Its a different series, but it does fall under the Fabula Nova Chrystallis internal Square Enix lore.

originally Type-0 was called Agito XIII.

FF XII, FF Tactics, FF Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy Tactics A2, Vagarant Story are all in the same world of Ivalice. There are hints that FF VII is also part of the Ivalice world as you can use a time maching to get Cloud Strife in FF Tactics, also Materia is mentioned.
Gabby 18/ago./2015 às 10:23
This is a bit of a misnomer. While they're all games in the Avalice Alliance, there's a few important factors here:

1. FF12 is the only game in that group that is a numeral flagship title. The basic rule of the series is no two numeral titles are related.

2. Tactics and Vagrant Story are noted to take place in a "different" Ivalice from the rest.

3. You forgot Revnant Wings, shame on you. :P

Cloud is an easter egg secret character and not actually canonical. Any mention of Materia comes from his easter egg cameo. This is not evidence of any connection to FF7 or other series.
