How to understand this game?
I played and mostly finished FF 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13.
Each of them I undrestood fairly quickly, including 8, which was my first.

But I have some very noob questions about Type-0. Note that English isn´t my native language.
And so I could misheard or misread something in the game.

1. Am I right there are no phoenix downs?
2. Those "3 days, 12 hours" breaks between missions - what are they for? Managed to take
sidequest "to kill 6 monsters in North Torgoroth" with deadline before the next mission,
running there just to read game-message "you can´t go here yet" (to North Togoroth).
What the... so when can I go there, last day of the break?
3. I didn´t even know, but promotion screen tells me I have Ifrit and Shiva. How Eidolons
actually work in this game?

These 3 are my main questions.
Overall I really don´t understand this FF of how it works. It made me so confused, any advice for
the gameplay will be very appriciated.

The days are to do stuff inbetween missions. I was a little annoyed because I felt like it restricted what I could do and it limited my time but as time goes on... you get PLENTY of time. Also, when ever you leave and come back, it is always 6 hours I believe no matter how long you stay out.Pheaonix downs... I don't think there is any, this is why it is always good to have backup party members who can jump in until you can get to a play to revive them. For Edolons, you basically press the button combination that it set for summoning it and then it because this big thing you get to walk around with and fight though it will kill one of your party members. There are methods you can do to revive someone depending on who is in your party but I don't remember who it is and what they do.

I played this game for a bit and took a break when i got Windows 10 and I was having trouble saving games. But now I've been playing Tales of Zestaria and Final Fantasy V so I'll be going back to this after those... unless Tales of Symphonia comes out before I finish those but I cannot see that happening :P

Thank you for your post.

So I can start the next mission not worrying about last hours left, when I actually can´t find any more "!" or "?" NPCs?

I´m so confused... I don´t know what the game will consider a bad move. You have ONE slot for ONE sidequest between the main missions. And when I come to North Torgoroth, where my side quest is, it just won´t let me in for no reason, it´s so stupid. I like Type-0, at the same time as I hate it.
Go to the mission room to skip all the days/hours by talking to I 4got which NPC was it. And thats the reason there is many multiple playthrough so people can find out what each side mission gives and go.

1) There are Phoenix Down, but you rather use Phoenix Pinion on the characters before they die. Alternatively, casting Reraise when you get it does the same thing. To farm Phoenix Pinion early game, get S rank on Reconquestia RTS mission. You can keep doing it and it randomly gives Phoenix Pinions.

2) Mainly for you to do Expert Trials, requests and know the story. Going out of the school takes 6 hours away from your clock. Chocobos breed every 6 hours as well. Expert Trials require 12 hours. One or two of the requests give the Phoenix Pinions.

3) Before a mission, it asks if you want to use Triad Maneuver, Eidolons or Vermillion Bird. Select Eidolon, have your leader press the buttons (I think Y and B on the xbox360 controller). This will sacrifice your leader to be able to use your Eidolon as a replacement party member for a short while.

My advice

1) Start on Cadet if you are new to this. Officer for your first time through after you are used to the controls and how this game works

2) S rank generally requires a fast time, a large number of kills and (mostly) 0 casualties, except for maps where casualties will not be 0 due to mission-specific triggers

3) Press F9 to give yourself a speed boost that works in and out of battles aka Fast Forward

4) If you do not care for the story and just want to get into the game and combat, find your favorite character and his/her weapon that suits your playstyle. I recommend Cater as a ranged DPS.

5) In this game, humans enemies are weak to Fire, machines to Thunder and dragons to Blizzard. Other monsters vary. Milites (Imperial) enemies are technologically advanced, so prepare to use Lightning more often.

6) Don't skip tutorials. Keep doing them until you are confident.

7) Recommended magic types are the BOM and RF. The ROK type requires manual aiming and MIS is pretty slow. Never used SHG types, so can't comment.

8) Farm 800 Breaksights with a character unlocks his/her weapon that costs 5000 SPP in the SPP shop. These weapons double EXP and has generally 50-70 attack rating, EXTREMELY high for your current level.

9) As noted, this game works on damage ratings, not direct damage. If the monster has 150 attack and you only have 40 defense, be prepared to take extra damage. And I mean thousands more than usual. On Officer, with SP Crystal and the SPP weapon you can hit 255 attack rating easily, making the game a joke.

10) If your magic rating for an element is high enough, you can charge your equipped magic to -ra or -ga suffixes. Hold down your magic button in combat to charge. A transparent bar will signify the charge progress. To use Cure on all party members, you need to charge it up to Cura at least.

11) Use Promotion to get all your characters to learn all the dodge-related skills. Very useful for all combat.

Greetings, Mobius 1
Exact kind of info I was looking for. Thank you thousand times!

Still looks like I have to start from beggining. I don´t know how to breed Chocobos, how to farm.. I´m very useless in this game.

Mobius, do you play Ace Combat Infinity? Piloting mostly R-101 delphinus series.

Chocobo Breeding...>_> There was a funny thing of how to get x99 Chocobo. I stop playing for 5 days, come back and went to the Chocobo farm and i suddenly got x99 Chocobo.

Unfortunately I don't have the console for AC:I.

To breed a Chocobo, you need to progress a little. Maybe Chapter 2 or 3? I forgot.

Use the teleporter in the school hallways to get to the ranch, then talk to the guy near the stables. You will get 10 male and female Chocobos.

With these 20, select a male and a female (aka Sire and 'Dam), then choose a green. For starters, all you really need are Gyshal Greens. You can get these by farming up 30 Killsights with each character, but you can only get them once (a bunch of three greens) per character (or was it killing a certain number of enemies, not sure).

I know that one town sells these greens. Speaking of towns, this game is mostly centered around farming missions and doing S.O. for your weapons. The towns are generally one screen and has one shop selling basic stuff only. Even Akademia's Armory, SPP and Aria's shop requires you to progress to unlock more stuff.

Spoiler: By the time you unlock those stuff, you are way beyond needing them

Yeah this game requires some hand-holding to get you started, but you should be able to do away with training wheels after a few days of practice.

There are a couple events that can be missed, only available on the first playthrough, but nothing to worry about, it's just "flavor" (no, not sex scenes).
