Is it worth it?
With Ace being added to the new Dissidia, I'm really considering on picking this up since it's been on my interest since it was on the PSP.

Is this game pretty good? Does it run well?

If you're going into it fully aware that it is a PSP game port and thus will have limitations inherent to the platform it originated from, then sure, give it a try, it's rather cheap anyway.

Some things are definitely annoying, the 2 most prominent issue, imo, being the godawful AI of teammates (which makes sense considering this was originally a MULTIPLAYER game, you weren't even supposed to play alone all that much, if at all) and the slightly disjointed story flow (Basically lots of short cutscenes and jumping to events going on which again makes sense due to the size limitation of the UMDs, the original game already needed 2 UMDs).

Honestly most of the bad reviews come from nitwits who thought it would be the next big budget FF game or something. Look at the PSP reviews and you'll notice it left a really good impression overall, ranking only one point behind FFX on 4gamer for instance.

I personnally enjoyed it a lot, I even bought the novels and the side-story manga about Kurasame because I wanted to see more of it.

If you really wanted to you could try to download it on ppsspp, give it a try and then decide if it's worth putting the money on the HD remaster.

Good day !

If you are a fan of the PlayStation 1 Final Fantasy games (VII to XI) then yes, it is absolutely worth it. It is very reminiscent of those games, especially Final Fantasy VIII. I wasn't sure when I first saw it, but after playing it, it is fantastic! It has a 3D overworld to explore with dungeons and secrets to discover, there are a fair number of side quests, regions with different environments, and the battle system is one of the best in the series. There are optional RTS segments called sorties that are actually pretty fun and add something to mix up the gameplay a bit. The graphics can sometimes be a little inconsistant, but it is still night and say compared to the original PSP version and the main character models are all beautifully rendered.
