FINAL FANTASY TYPE-0 HD

Type 0 is My Favorite FF
I seem to be the only one but Type 0 has a special place in my heart. Type 0 is the first game I played in Japanese back in the day in 2011 when I was self teaching Japanese. 5 years later self teaching has been doing me wonders. It's because of Type 0 I learned most of my Katakana and Hiragana. I fell in love with the characters and the world of Type 0 when I played the demos and eventually got the actual game in the mail. As messed up as it sounds I kinda wish it was real more than Hogwarts.

I was excited about the HD version but unfortunately the old psp version on a Vita TV seems to look a lot better than Type 0 HD does on anything, I wish it looked like Birth By Sleep HD. I am happy for the official English release and it IS better than nothing and not getting Type 0 at all in English so I guess I can forgive its flaws I have with it. I like the translation but seriously? "Mother frickers"? Lol English Aria steals the show. I'm not sure what I was expecting because I forgot most of the dialog from the Japanese script at the time. It caught me off guard and chocked.

6 has a lot of different characters, similar to Type 0.
3 is hard, but the job system works similar to changing characters.
I'm enjoying the game quite a bit, but it's a pretty bad localization tbh. There are even snatches of dialogue here and there that seem to have been translated with no attempt to fit them into English grammar. Other things, like the guy who ends every sentence with "yo" or "hey", you get the type of character they're going for, but there's no english analogue for the colloquialism they're translating, so his dialogue comes off nonsensical and stilted (lots off overlong pauses while animations seem to be loading in or something also contribute to this). Hearing the voice actors do their best to power through all of this is often just kind of sad. And yet it still makes more sense and has more likeable characters than XIII.

Yeah, I agree about the localization being a bit weird. Nine being my favorite character since the original PSP version in 2011 he ends most of his sentences with "こら!!!" Which literally means "hey!". I wouldn't mind so much if they got rid of that part because that doesn't transition well into English and come off as an awkward translation or make him an annoying character. At least they put in the effort and try to be faithful to the Japanese version by westernize it with "yo" but in Nine's case I don't think it worked very well in the end.

I think "yo" is just kinda an odd or old thing to say now, it's like a Bart Simpsons 80/90's things now. When characters are attempting to speak in some bad old-english, and someone says "yo", it just doesn't work.

Type - 0 is very special for me too though definitely not even close to Golden Age of FF (VI, VII, VIII, IX,X) but still far more better than XIII potato series or these mobile piece of ♥♥♥♥ like Dimnesion or similar things. Very nice game.
Golden Age was 4,5 & 6 m8

I'd probably say 6&7, 5 isn't really that great, 4 is still one of the best. Certainly not anything 8 or past that.

This game just suffers from being a PSP game really. If it was designed for better hardware, it would be a much better game. But you get low res textures, undetailed world, small maps and a lot of zone changing and load screens, short, repetative songs...

If they made a sequel for console/PC, it would probably be a day 1 buy for me.

I like this game and beat it. I felt like the ending was rushed but im just now doing Newgame+ on agito and its very punishing.

I dont like the magic, its hard to know what each spell does by name alone, and they seem just too situational and costly, and you can only have 2 from what I can tell.
The combat is fun, but frustrating for sure.

None of the other final fantasy games that other posters listed here are even remotely the same. This is similar to dynasty warriors/orochi and it's great in its own way. I love the combat system

Music is from older FF games, overworld map theme is the chocobo song.
Overmap from other FF games.
Chocobo and breeding from 7.
Summons from other FF games.
Magic similar to some FF games.
Characters\Classes similar to many FF games.
Leveling system similar to many FF games, skill system similar to FF X and XIII

It feels like a Final Fantasy 8 remake a bit.
