Worst introduction ever!
I've played my share of games with bad introduction, but wow this one takes the crown!

After a pretty good video setting up the world and main conflict we have to slog trough a really long cutscene with some random soldier we don't know and who's apparently not important to the plot since he dies anyway. But all this takes like 5-10 minutes when its all pointless! We learn nothing abut the world, its not visually interesting and doesn't introduce anyone really.

On top of that the class zero guy, who are apparently the only people capable of doing anything in the game just stand there and watch him dies, well good things there not in the middle of a city being pillage where hundreads of people and soldier are dying and- OH wait a second...

I'm just amazed at how bad it is, and the game keep taunting us that maybe its going to let us play before nope jumping back to dying soldier.

yeah true the intro kinda sucks a bit that they didnt help the guy. that said one of the people you get introduced to soon after is a relative who's joining class zero. its also there to introduce the idea that if someone dies, no one remembers who they are, again something else they tell you not too long later.

I think the super dark and gritty intro is what tends to draw people into this game. You might find most people disagree about it being terrible. Long ass intros also tend to be expected by jrpg players. And as far as them not helping him, it's a plot point, and I wouldn't necessarily say that it's explained (this game's plot can be all over the place), but it's certainly discussed.

My problem with them not helping him isn't so much that they're not helping him per se, I can buy that maybe he's just beyond help, but the problem is they just stand there and do nothing when hundreads if not thousands of people are dying around. They choose to do nothing.

I'm not stranger to long intro sequence, but usually those are either visually impressive or introduce the world/character. This oen did none of those things, it's not visually impressive (neither tehcnologically nor artisticly), it didn't teach anything about the world (we already knew that the city was under attack and that soldiers were being killed) nor did it introduced chaarcter, it spent more time on a random NPC than on the actual main characters.

I thought it did a good job of showing the level of epathy (i.e. low) of the special cadets towards mortals and the more brutal/savage nature of this FF compared to the more fluffy happy go lucky approach of the previous ones
Oh I promise you the game gets exponentially worse if you thought the intro was bad. Solid 1.5/10 RPG game. It is no ones surprise it has won worse RPG game of the year award by the masses.
