TROUBLESHOOTING FAQS / TECH SUPPORT
If you are experiencing a technical issue please read through these FAQs. 95% of users experience problems will find their solution here but if none of these work you are of course more than welcome to do a Steam refund!

Strange Resolution / Glitchy Looking Window
This appears to only be a problem for some users the very first time they start up the game. If your resolution looks weird or you have black bars on the sides even while in windowed mode, just close the game and restart it. If the problem persists try playing around with the screen settings in the game.

Blurry Looking Screen
Some users have been able to get a much clearer image by using the following method: Right click the game in your steam library > Properties > Set Launch Options > Enter "-force-d3d11" > Done

Crash At Startup
This problem is almost entirely exclusive to a few particular hardware configurations running either Windows 7 or 8. We've discovered some solutions that have worked for many players:
  • Access Violation Error
This error means your OS tried to allocate memory that's already been allocated to another program (protected memory). Most likely this is because you have another program or operation running that's conflicting with HuniePop. This problem is often frequently solved by either disabling bios security (if it's on), or by quitting/uninstalling the offending program causing the collision.

  • Blank Black Screen?
This usually means your save has somehow become corrupt. Deleting your save file would resolve this issue. On Windows, the save file is usually located in ("C:/Users/*username*/AppData/LocalLow/HuniePot/HuniePop/"). On Mac it's usually located in ("/Users/*username*/Library/Caches/HuniePot/HuniePop/").

  • Graphics Drivers
Be sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed, have the latest drivers for your graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration in display settings. It's possible that there are compatibility issues between your current drivers and Unity3D. If so, you may want to consider going back and installing an older driver version.

  • "Failed to load mono.dll"
Try (re) installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package. The 32-bit version is here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=5555 and the 64-bit is here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/confirmation.aspx?id=14632

  • Run the Game in Compatibility Mode
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/make-older-programs-run#1TC=windows-7

  • Corrupted Font Files
It's possible your game could be crashing due to corrupted font files installed in your fonts directory. Please read this post by the developer of "Space Hulk": http://steamcommunity.com/app/242570/discussions/0/666827315579643194/

Or maybe everyone is just quick to blame Windows 8 without having all the facts because that's what people on the internet do?

Works fine here for me on 8. Well 8.1 technically but same difference.

Ran it on Win 8.1 as well - no issues

Unfortunately, mine refused to run on Win 8.1. When I started the game up, an error message appeared telling me that the game has crashed.

^ Same here with a version from "Humble Bundle"... I'm waiting to be able to play.

For those who don't know, one issue, running 8.1 Pro with Media Center.

Somebody who's having problems with Win8, please let me know what graphics card you are using.
joek0 Jan 19, 2015 @ 3:24pm
I am using Win 8.1 64 bit. I'm using an Intel Integrated HD video card. Hope to play this soon since I preordered this game. I got the game to run, but it opens to a black screen of nothingness. No error messages though.

Believe when I say nothing is stressing me out more right now than the fact that someone of you can't play. I barely slept last night and I will not sleep tonight.

NVIDIA Geforce 610M. The "crash log" thingy say this: "igdumdim64.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005) in module igdumdim64.dll at 0033:2ecfbbf9"
Eraizas Jan 19, 2015 @ 3:30pm
Same problem, but Windows 7 64 bits, Integrated Intel HD video card

@Corelogix
For your issue, please take a look at this this thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/232430/discussions/1/810939350752288562/#p1

I recommend trying this potential fix from the thread: "
OK. One more possible fix, can you please try (re) installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package? The 32-bit version is here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=5555 and the 64-bit is here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/confirmation.aspx?id=14632
