Inconsistency in profile found during profile save! Exiting!

I get this error whenever I enter a level on my main profile (two thirds of game levels cleared) or try to create a new profile. I have tried to reinstall the game, but I still get the same error.

I guess one remaining option may be to uninstall the game and delete all profile data (wherever that is located), however I rather not have to replay the game from start.

Anyone who had the same problem and managed to solve it?
