Steam Deck Issues
I have been having a large variety of issues running this game on steam deck, including green stripes on the screen that disappears behing character when i run over them(I could look past this one for the time being) and much more game breaking, alot of crashes. Just wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing these issues and make the devs aware or if anyone could suggest a solution it would be appreciated:)

i had this same issue. found a bit of a work around. once in the game i changed the controller input to mouse only. it let me move the mouse and i just nudged it off screen. then swapped back to the recommended controls.

No need to change the input mode. You can always switch to mouse by holding the Steam button and touching the right trackpad for a quick mouse interaction.

This game recently lost it's 'Verified' status and is currently listed as 'Unsupported'.
At least the issues have been noticed! :)

Follow these steps, but under step 4 download version 7-18. This will fix green line issues in the train section, which, by the way, seem to only happen during that section.

It does not fix the mouse cursor staying on the screen, but someone already provided a solution for that.

Do note that opening the game on first launch with this compatibility enabled will take a while (can be up to a minute or more).

just touch the screen with your finger.

Same problem with green stripes. In RE 1 also...

check protondb. i was having greenlines but then ran it using the latest GE proton and now its perfect. make sure you go to dev options and delete proton files if you are trying to run it after using a different version of proton.

Nope, done that. Latest protonGE still has the lines lol

Are you applying it correctly under launch options? It doesn't have lines for me here.

Definitely yes, on both decks. I've tried removing the shader cache, proton files and reinstalled. 7-18 has the problem but they're static. 7-49 / 7-50 they flash.

Edit: it looked fixed in a new save, I got up to the first weird zombie upstairs in 2F that takes a little effort to kill and then the lasers re-appeared once I killed him.

dont know what to tell ya. i was having lines then went to dev options to delete the previous proton stuff and then applied 7-49. i think i may have done a fresh install as well. never saw a green line in the train again. apparently it just happens on the train anyway, which should only take an hour or so to clear.
hope it works out for you

The good thing is that it's not like that during the entire game, only the train section.

I had the missing background issue for certain animated train car scenes. That was fixed by switching to a different version of Proton (the only one that began with an 8 IIRC). I wasn't able to fix the "green lines" bug, which includes other weird visual color streaking.

The main issue though is that sometimes when switching between camera angles in the same room the game would freeze. At this point I uninstalled.

I've answered this a few times before, but here goes again, and this goes for anyone wanting to play on linux in general, in addition to steam deck:

0. uninstall the game, make sure 339340 compatdata and shadercache is wiped
1. Grab Proton GE 7.49
2. Set RE0 to launch with Proton GE 7.49 with force compatibility option before installation (not sure if this matters, but this is how I do it)
3. Start installing RE0
4. Set launch options to
DXVK_ASYNC=1 %command%
- this seems to matter, without this you will still experience graphical artifacts, such as green lines in the train
- DXVK_ASYNC works in GE 7.49, i believe it was removed at some 7.5X version, I don't remember which exactly
5. Launch the game, first time launch will take a bit of time, be patient, if the game fails to launch just retry it until it succeeds

This is the only ProtonGE that does not crash this game

update, so it seems that this no longer works 100% with the Steam Deck. While the game still does not crash with GE 7.49, I still get weird graphical artifacts in the train. Not sure when this broke. Strangely enough it works just fine on my arch desktop, though do note, my desktop sports an nvidia card... Will play around with it to see if I can find a workaround for the steam deck, it might be the latest mesa drivers that broke it, it can also be that the outdated kernel causing issues with the new driver... may need to see if the preview channel fixes the graphical artifact issue in the train section

Anyway, 7.49 still should solve crashing issues, if you don't mind playing with graphical artifacts during the train section on the steam deck, the above instructions are still relevant
