ACE2 keyboard controls don't all work
Hello

I installed Arma 2 Combined Operations using steam. Then I used "Play with Six" utility to install ACE2 mod. I cannot seem to get most keyboard controls from the ACE settings menu to work.

Examples:
Tap shoulder = SHIFT T Doesn't do anything. What does it do anyway?
Knock down = SHIFT CTRL K Doesn't do anything and what is it?
Open adjustment dialog = SHIFT V Doesn't do anything
Drawing tools: H J K [ ] \ do not work either in map view

Thanks for the help

Tap shoulder = Tapping another player on the shoulder. Really essential for serious TvT especially with A.C.R.E. + ACE. Along with hand signals, understanding these makes for an effective team.

Knock down = Doesn't work all the time, but when it does; this knocks another player down or ai so you may disarm and take his weapon, restrain him with cuffs, etc.

Open Adjustment Dialog = If you even TRY to snipe without learning how to use this you're gonna miss anything that's not zeroed in. This is where you make adjustments to your scope and the tables to do the math in this case. It is near impossible to snipe a moving target at 750+ meters with a spotter who knows these and has constant range and windage updates.

Drawing tools = Map system must be in the modules of the mission. This allows you to draw plans and marks on the map then have other players interact and copy this info from you. Really nice for coordinated strikes, but the enemy can pick up a dead man's map.

You're welcome in advance. P.S. PlayWithSix is a horrible transition from the more complicated yet vastly superior 'Six Updater'. Stick with that and find a dl to that instead. Or I can paste one http://www.militarygaming.org/files/getdownload/107-six-updater/

On another note, if you are looking for a serious-less casual military sim unit, contact me.

Thank you very much for your time, Col.

I have followed your advise and I now use the older six updater v 2.9.7

It looks more complicated and more powerful so I searched the net for help. I have found a community called "united operations" that have instructions on their site[forums.unitedoperations.net] on how to setup six updater to install all mods required to play on their servers. I did a fresh install of Arma CO and all mods seem to have installed ok since all items are green in six updater but once I start the game through six updater, there seems to be a problem with ace ammo crate magic box in mission. I started the ACE demo mission 1 (the one with only one ammo box) but I can't seem to find ace map tools and furthermore, there are some ACRE radio sets that appear duplicate for dozens of times in the gear menu.

Any idea? Is the order in which mods appear in the main expansions menu important? I noticed the order is now different than it used to be when I didn't use six updater

Does your military sim unit require to be online x times a week/month? That's very difficult for me as I play the game very irregularly due to personal and professional life. But on the other hand, yes I am looking for a good server where every mature gamer is welcome and free to join whenever you want without obligations. A server where people have a friendly attitude, no swearing, no cheating, no frustrated kiddies that hack my pc but instead being able to learn something from others and have fun at the same time. I have 0 experience in arma 2 multiplayer and I am affraid to start because I don't want to screw up for others and because I am still learning a lot about these mods. Installing them has already been a painstaking process for the last few weeks for me but I learn even more as I go.

United operations was something that I had not thought of, but now that I think of it I should have.

On to the problem, this is because the mission file most likely does not have the new ACE modules in. These ACE demo missions are REALLY outdated and will most likely have duplicates or missing items. Another possiblity is that the other mod files aren't loaded. These mods are required for ACE to run perfectly: @CBA;@CBA_A2;@CBA_OA;@ACE;ACEX;@ACEX_RU;@ACEX_SM;@ACEX_USNavy.
______

Although here are some optional mods we'd highly recommend:
- @ACRE; @JayArmA2Lib (The most reccomended mod on here. Allows for immersive communication and playability not only with ACE, but every single ARMA server and mod that allows it).

- @blastcore (Beautiful and more realistic destruction)

- @JSRS (Great sound mod, HD and realistic)

- @rh_aks; @RH_HK416; @RH_M4; @RH_M14; @RH_MGS; @RH_MK18; @rh_pdw; @RH_Pistol; @RH_SMG (Creations of 'Robert Hammer' - One of the greatest and most diverse weapon packs made to work specifically with ACE)

- @UKF_UKweps; @ukf_ukweps_ace (Necessary for training with blank firing weapons that emit a loud beep on a hit person in training, HD and animated weapon packs, possibly greater in quality than the Robert Hammer firearms.)

The mil sim unit does not require a 'defined' amount of time required to be on, it really is to try and get on as often as you can. Although, as all other non-founding members, you'll start out as a recruit. If pre-eliminaries are passed then you move on, most likely as an enlisted operator moved to Sergeant. (Skipping non-NCO ranks as it is rare to have them in a 'Special Forces' group). If you're not active, it is unlikely you will get promotions as fast as other members who have had more time to demonstrate why they deserve such. Swearing isn't used in an offensive manner unless you do something really stupid like blow up your whole team purposely or when told not to do something. (E.g. Setting of a satchel to set off an IED when your team is all near it). (Rules for public servers are within notes). In terms of seriousness, we're serious when it matters. We may play ARMA, but we're a tight knit bunch that plays a variety of other games. We're a relatively small unit just hitting a dozen and a half members. Then again, the majority of players flooding in are looking for 'casual groups' that play Wasteland or DayZ, I see it on the game hub every day. Script kiddies? I could counter that with my own if I wanted to. I use my own anti-cheat script using my own knowledge of coding to keep an eye on our servers, and servers that tend to trust our members and downloaded my script for their servers. As I stated previously, friendly, yet seriousness will take priority when it needs to. The best experience is combat experience, really it is. If you'd like to join us in playing ARMA, you should Download ACRE. Air assets, armor assets, and communication will be limited because you do not have it. It is a Teamspeak/ArmA modification. We'll be happy to get this set up and more as long as you have the time, and are able to not take more than 12 hours to follow our instructions and download a single mod. (Players from DayZ tend to do this).

(We use locally hosted servers in the US so if the power's out I apologize in advance).

Unit Name: 1st Joint Task Force (1JTF)

Laymen's terms description: The unit in its concept is comparable - dare I say it - Task Force 141 from the Modern Warfare franchise. Taking players from around the world who are deem fit to be able to handle themselves effectively, yet can strike as a team equally or more so. So far we have members from the USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, and a recruit from Russia. For a better description, please look for the unit website whenever I finally finish designing it.

Main Games: ARMA 2: ACE ; ARMA 2: Invasion 1944

Serious-Moderate Unit. Serious during focused operations, and moderate towards new players, unrelated games, etc.

It was indeed an issue with an older ace demo mission. I made a small mission in the editor and placed some ace ammo crates and then it works.

I'll give the mods a try. Thanks for the teamspeak IP. I need to buy a new headset and I'll check out your site once it's online.

without spaces of course. Steam removes the link if it's not spaced...
