CBA Unknown Error, Please Help!
Hello everybody. I'm attempting to install ACE for ArmA 2 Combined Ops, as everybody probably knows, it requires CBA. I've followed the installation instructions to the letter, (to the level that I could understand.) and i'm using the Spirited Machine ArmA 2 Launcher, but every time I attempt to start the game via the launcher, it gives me the following error, "Included file x\cba\addons\main\script_macros_common.hpp not found." Does anybody know how to fix this? I would appreciate it a lot!

Can you post up your launch line. The common macro library is what drives CBA and it is not being loaded, either at all, or in the correct order.

Where did you source CBA from? There is a new version that is quite hard to source if you don't use Six Updater.

You can get the latest version from Armaholic;

http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6231

For Combined Ops you need to make sure you are running all three CBA mods;

@CBA
@CBA_A2
@CBA_OA

I am not sure how Spirited Machines works (I use Six Updater) but is should generate a mod line that looks like this;

-mod=@CBA;@CBA_A2;@CBA_OA

You can check your arma2oa.rpt file to see if it is launching correctly. This file can be found in the following folder;

c:\users\[windows user name]\AppData\Local\Arma2 OA

You will need to have 'view hidden files and folders' switched on in windows folder options to see the Appdata folder.

As far as I know I have the latest version, i'll download it again just to make sure. My starting parameters for Spirited Machine are: "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2;Expansion;ca" "-name=jonbravo2" -nosplash

And I just now realised that CBA isn't even in the parameters... LOL

Ok! My launch parameters are now: "-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 2;Expansion;ca;c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@cba;c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@ace;c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@cba_a2;c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@cba_oa;c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@acex;c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@acex_usnavy;c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2\@acex_sm" "-name=jonbravo2" -nosplash

It's kinda different, but I guess that's how the launcher works.

What load order should these be in by the way?
Jedra Oct 21, 2012 @ 12:01pm
If you can change the order in Spirited Machine, I would make sure that the CBA stuff is before the ACE stuff - ACE is very much dependent on CBA so this may be the issue.

I changed the load order, re-installed CBA and ACE, and it is giving me a new error: "Include file userconfig\ace\ace_clientside_config.hpp not found." I took a look in the arma2oa.rtp file, and it displays the same error code that it shows here.

I'm guessing Spirited Machine isn't doing somthing right, or I did somthing wrong. Quick question: on the ACE homepage they didn't really explain how to install it very well; do the files go into the ARMA 2 OA directory or the ARMA 2 directory?

P.S. I know I sound totaly stupid asking some of these questions, but I truly have no clue, LOL

I just read on a forum, that if you unpack the userconfig.tar into the arma 2 directory, that the error will go away, so i'm attempting to do so...

And I just figured out what has been going wrong: I had to extract the userconfig folder into my OA folder which got rid of the error. Ace is now running fine on my game, with a few errors, but will soon be running fine. Thanks for all of your help man!

Great stuff - it's been so long since I manually installed ACE that I forgot about this. The great thing about Six Updater is that it does all the userconfig stuff for you.
jonbravo2 Oct 22, 2012 @ 9:00am
Does it auto-update the files as well?
Jedra Oct 22, 2012 @ 9:05am
Six Updater does yes (as does it's more simple little brother 'Play With Six'). Both Six Updater and Play With Six are written by the lead programmer of the ACE/CBA team (Sickboy) - so you can guarantee that it will always have the latest released version.

Ok, cool,
jonbravo2 Oct 22, 2012 @ 10:14am
Play with Six is working good so far, I installed ACE from the mod browser there, and It's not showing up in-game, is there somthing else you have to do?
Jedra Oct 22, 2012 @ 11:03am
Strange - I just tried it and it worked for me. Are you trying to join a server or just launch as Single Player? Try the latter first.

1. On the PWS main screen, slide the button to 'Single Player'.
2. Make sure that ACE is selected as the mod and hit 'Launch'.

You should then see the game launch and get the ACE skull and crossbones splash screen.
