Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead

Cannot drag and carry wounded
Hi all

Just installed both Arma 2 and OA with Czech expansion. The action menu only shows first aid when someone is wounded, i cannot drag or carry anyone.

Need help with that

Are you supposed to drag them at all?

It's been a while, but in my mind there was no dragging around of wounded except in certain mods.

You should be able to drag anyone who is wounded in the base game i think. No mods needed. I cant even drag in the tutorials, no option to drag or carry, only first aid

Yes, that's what I mean though.

Unless the game specifically tells you to drag people, I'm fairly certain dragging of wounded is not part of the regular game.

Again, I may be wrong and it's been a while, but I'm almost positive there was never any dragging except in certain mods.

Edit: I think the first time I saw a dragging option was in one Warfare (CTI) game mode.

I have played the game before, I just reinstalled it recently to play again. You are supposed to be able to drag and carry ANY WOUNDED SOLDIER REGARDLESS OF MODE.
Previously I was able to, now I can't.
There is a first aid tutorial where you are supposed to drag and carry (I'm doing tutorials to refresh my memory). I only have the option for first aid, no drag or carry in the action menu. I was previously able to do it quite a while ago, now after recently reinstalling it I cannot

Yeah, I double checked and it seems that you are correct. Apologies.
It seems that the function isn't always available though and depends on the mission creator activating it. Or something.

Regardless, all I have found are general tips to find the "sweet spot" so the option appears.
Like the soldier obviously needs the flags to be carried (wounded enough), and you generally should try scrolling throught the wheel menu from different angles and distances.

Though people seem to agree that if you can see the Heal option, the Drag option should be there as well.

Hope that helped at least a bit.

IIRC the module that allows for these actions has to be expressly included in the mission file for these actions to be included in the mission.

There are a few reasons why it may not be available:
  1. The person is not heavily wounded enough. Only badly wounded players can be dragged, although lightly wounded players can be healed.
  2. You may not be close enough. If you can see the "Heal" action, though, you are close enough to drag the person.
  3. It is disabled in the mission.
  4. It is a temporary glitch. In multiplayer, I have occasionally found myself unable to drag people for no reason.

Without pulling apart the specific mission pbo there isn't an easy way to see if the module is enabled.

This isn't an uncommon problem. I am having exactly the same issue. No drag option, not only in the Tutorial where it's definitely supposed to be, but in none of the single player campaigns, skirmishs or multiplayer. And no it isn't a context issue, I've done everything but hung upside down out of a helicopter trying to get the Grab option to appear

I've been hunting for an answer everywhere and so far nothing. I would like this to be figured out if possible.
Same problem here, action menu has no drag option, so I'm unable to complete the First Aid mission. I've every stance at different distances and still no luck.

im having exactly the same problem. healing option appears, but dragging doesnt. i cant also complete a custom donwloaded mission about killing bin laden, when at the end of it, i have to carry his body to the chopper. i remember i was able to do it in the past.

tryed reinstalling, deleting mods, switching back to default controls.. nothing. hopefully this will get fixed.

The patch team found the fix but I don't know when the next update will roll out.

So this problem has been fixed? Were just waiting on these people to roll out an update. Also is it official? Like will it update via stem? Or will I have to download stuff?
igMac Jan 5, 2016 @ 2:35am
so we have to wait for a patch to fix it, or will they fix it right away??

The fix for the problem is identified, but not out yet, so yes, we are waiting on the next update (hotfix actually) to roll out. I don't know if it will be right away or not. Yes, it is an official patch.

When the fix does come out, Steam will do the update, but it depends on what you have set in the Updates and Betas tab of game properties whether it will occur automatically.

if you have automatic updating set on, it will update automatically when you're running on "None" or "Beta" under Betas tab. If you're running on "Legacy" in Beta tab, you have the older version of the game running and have opted out of patch updates.

If you do not have automatic updating set on, you must prompt Steam before it will do any updating to the game.
