Choices/Karma

I'm in about 5 hours worth of gameplay. I've tried surfing the web and no real answers yet. But my question is does choices in this game actually affect the game or just the outcome to a quest and relationship to an NPC here and there.
Also this game seems to give you choices between having Good karma and Bad but apparently it's very oriented to Good karma and the only pro to Bad karma is more loot. Apparently all your companions will talk down on you or turn hostile on you for being bad.... then I ask steam community what is the point of having these "choices" where the main character and game has a pre set Good path set for them?

P.S: Last question im sorry for so many questions are there evil companions for you if you do choose to go agaisnt the games intended path of being the good guy.

Karma doesn't really affect much. It does technically change the relationships, but I don't think there's a tremendous difference compared to good karma. And there aren't any companions that actually like bad karma.

Considering you can keep good karma and still be "evil" (by working with the Vory and completing quests in violent ways), I don't think there's really any need to go for bad karma.

Some of the choices do have an effect later in the game, but a lot of the smaller stuff is just there for roleplaying.
