Elven whittling knife

During my playthrough I aquired elven whittling knife. Knife has +3 to bowyery but I don't know how to activate its effect. It is no possible to equip it. Does anyone know how to activate effect?

Try putting it on your hotbar and see if that gives you the bonus passively.

I can't say for certain how this works, but I do know that the sickle (+2 to Plants Lore) works just by being present in the inventory, I daresay it should be the same for the knife.

Fyi, the bonus isn't visible on the page with the Plants Lore. It appears as +2 bonus to difficulty in the log when picking the plants. I suppose, it's the same with the whittling knife then? Say, you'd need 7 bowyery to create an improved Iama bow, so with this knife you should efectively need only 4.

If with 4 bowywery and the knife being present in your inventory you still can't make the Iama bow, it's likely bugged.
