Low framerate, stuttering, laggy text [FIX AVAILABLE!]
ORIGINAL POST

Yeah, it's a 1st world problem in a game like this, but the framerate drops like into the 10s sometimes during a dialogue (and primarily when you start talking to someone). The mouse also lags when this happens and the whole game runs in slow-mo. It's not game-breaking, but I only wanted to point it out ;)

My PC is fine:
i5 4430
rx 480
8gb of ram

also windows 10 (already tried game mode on and off)

UPDATE! There is an EXPERIMENTAL (it may be unstable and it may have bugs) fix available, please check it out:

We have a very experimental build ready for testing that may fix the stuttering issue, but please note this experimental version doesn't enable the Steam achievement at this moment, and it is highly experimental, so only try it if your internet data caps allow you to download it so if it doesn't work for you, you can revert to the regular version of the game.

In order to try this alternative version:
- In your Steam Library, please right click on Finding Paradise and click on Properties.
- Click on "Betas" and choose "alternative" from the dropdown menu.
- Click on Close.

Steam should start downloading an update for the game. After the update is downloaded, start the game and please let us know how it works for you.

Thanks again for your patience, guys. I'll be able to compile some builds with certain scripts disabled tonight (I'm thinking of disabling the WASD interface script right now, as that's a major difference that deals with the Windows library).

Ok, new report, then I'll just play the game as it is (cause I'm dying to do it! :P).

Smooth mode ON/OFF: no change, issue remains.
Screen Flickering stuff ON/OFF: no change, issue remains.
Other stuff ON/OFF: no change, issue remains.
Everything OFF: no change.
Everything ON: no change.

Also, I want to point out that game menus work absolutely fine (save, inventory etc., that kind of stuff). The trigger seems to be related to dialogues, it's something that happens when you start a dialogue. When I walk it's fine, but when a dialogue box comes up the game stutters 99% of the time, it makes the game a bit clunky but it's absolutely playable, at least at the moment.

It gets better as the game progresses. Stuttering stops by the two hour mark or you get used to it :p
Uff, so sad :( i wanna play this game. Find a solution? Keep informed!
I have a similar issue. Something I noticed is that, in my case, it only stutters when a named character is speaking. If it's a "ghost" textbox, everything types smoothly and game doesn't stutter. I didn't play To The Moon on Windows 10, I think it was on win 7 back then. So I went back and checked, if To The Moon runs similarly, and it has the same issue. Changing the compatibility mode doesn't help, all advice above don't help. Maybe it's win 10 specific.

I've noticed the same thing in my playthrough. I've decided to just continue playing anyways since it's easy enough to get used to. If you press space while dialogue prints, it automatically fills, so you don't have to worry to much about it. The game's worth the slight hassle. Definately one of the top 5 games of the year, possibly #1
Gezz, Windows 10 ruin my life every day <3

So? No Solution?

Hm, it shouldn't be Windows 10; it's what I'm using, and I still can't seem to reproduce it. Are you using a desktop or a laptop, by the way?

I've been working on getting the stuck/freeze bugs fixed (found the solution), and still trying to find out what's causing this for particular computers. Sorry about the hassle!

I've finished the game yesterday (great job btw!), so I can tell you that the issue carries over the whole game. It's mostly related to dialogues and cutscenes, it's like the game isn't reading correctly from the hard drive what it needs to (or it's doing it really slowly). At least, that's how it appears, because the game runs "fine" and cpu/gpu/ram usage are ok, no spikes. I'm on a desktop btw. Win10 64-bit, i5-4430, rx 480 8gb, 8gb ram 1600mhz, game installed on a 7200rpm hard drive.

Nevermind, just checked disk usage when the lag happens and it's zero. It's weird though, it really feels like when you're playing on a failing hard drive (or when you're using a double-buffer vsync with jumps from 60 to 30 or 30 to 20 fps)
