Beneath Ending question (SPOILERS)

So after defeating the final boss, not much happens. A short cutscene where the player is sucked into what I assume is a portal.. and then.. credits?
Is that the player's dead body on the pirate cove beach?

Yeah, after defeating the end its assumed beneath implodes upon itself, at least the big energy beam thing, This launches the player up and falls on the beach, exploding into bits.

What I think is happening is the player has destroyed the central beneath power/boss and the spire shoots them up out of the caves before being destroyed.
