I suck at this. Any tips?
As much as I love PTTR, I can't finish a single level. I get to about 40-50 kills, and I get tapped out on health. I've tried modifiers and trying to block (which is damn hard because the timings on attacks feel unpredictable).

Any tips that aren't "don't suck"?

Also, am I wrong in thinking there is no damage when an enemy hits a wall/floor?

don't suck.

Ok, seriously now, I never block, it feels very useless. Try to aviod aggroing too many enemies at once and plan ahead. Eg. if you want to kill the boxer in the bar, take the baseball bat from behind the counter next to the entrance, go downstairs, so his friends aggro, go upstairs, kill them. Then take the machete from the moose and use it to kill the boxer. To kill the gang-leader, steal his machete from the table. Always hit and run, try not to get surrounded.

I believe in you.

the advice from reedo sounds spot on and makes for a non boring playthrough - knock down kick is you friend as well- and the jab is pretty good - keep your distance- it gets easier and then gets surprisingly nuanced if you want to- think you are correct about no additional damage from impacts to wall & floor

Another tip I have is kick if surronded and also some wepons are unbreakable like the weights in the prison level. They usally do good damage.

There is none for now. But impact and fall damage will come later on.

Kick, retreat, grab a weapon, fight, kick. Is my strategy.

One of the most important things is to know where the weapons are. Using the more powerful weapons for the bosses is a good idea so you have less of a burden fighting the cannon fodder.

No weapon is unbreakeable. But the kick is good :)

Thanks! Maybe a little belief is all I needed! I'm coming for you, Boxer!

That may be my problem. I kind of just pick up a glass and smash away. Maybe I should play the long game. I'll try wandering about without smashing anyone's face in.

There's plenty of guides for helping you know where some weapons are, my personal favorite guides for those are the "Everything you need to know about ____".

I just finished the bar level! Alright... so I turned on the 'random weapons' modifier and butchered everyone with machetes. Whatever works, right?

Close enough!

1. Always finish your work. If you hurt someone and then just leave them, they will come back for you and possibly kill you from behind! This also applies to people chasing you: when you are being chased, don't make new enemies. Kill the enemies you have already angered first!

2. Save your energy up. Shockwave and Berserk are useless compared to the almighty Smite!

3. Stay in open areas and move around. If you are being trapped, just sprint-jump away like a bunny.

4. Learn the maps. Find out where the secret weapons are. And also don't waste the good weapons.

5. The most important rule that basically combines all the other ones: be careful. Know your surroundings and strike at the right time. Look out for possible enemies and check if bodies lying on the ground are really dead.

Good luck and have fun! :D

in the bar level, there is a machete on top of the moose head, use it at the begining to take down all of the bosses so they arent a threat

typically what i do in the bar level is gather the first two machetes and stack them together. after that i kill the cooks with the first machete and then kill everyone in the basement with the second one, then i take the knife from ontop of the bar and then stab the gang leader in the face with it and take his machete, then i work slowly to kill everyone else :>
