Ruins Shortcut?

I've visited the Ruins eight times and faced off against the Necromancer three times. I've seemingly unlocked a shortcut to the Ruins after the eighth but I can't find it. Any advice on where it is? Thanks.

I haven't tried using the shortcuts yet, but when you're traveling into a new biome (ie starting Crystal Caverns after beating the caves.) There should be a portal immediately to your left when you get to the bridge. It should be where you see the Giant Mage fiddling with rocks on the wall and stuff.

If you're looking for the shortcut from the caves to the ruins, it's the red portal next to the elevator.

When you spawn in Caves, look to the right. There is a red portal on the wall.
