(This is just me ranting about other stuff about Paint the town red)
Personally as someone who as spent roughly 600 hours on this game for the past few years. (200 just being a normal player and the other 400 being a map creator) Making maps is a whole other can of worms though, If your levels aren't creative and made well it will never make it up in the front page. But there is videos and guides on how to get better on map making.
PTTR in the youtube scene is not as big as it used to be. I think now there are only a few small youtubers that make PTTR videos consistently. I honestly hope that the full version will bring another golden age of PTTR like it was back then.
Theres only been a few cases of drama between map creators (as far as I know) I honestly dont know what goes on in the discord, since im not verified on there.
You may like the dev created stuff such as Beneath, Scenarios or The Arena modes. They don't get updated consistently though since updates nowadays mostly consist of bug fixes or new sound and audio. It would be quite rare to see these game modes receive noteworthy updates.
Once your done with the dev created stuff you'll quickly hop onto player made levels, which vary heavily in quality. Some levels are quite below average for a starter level and some others are very high in quality with what you can make with the editor.
