Second, it's hard to be grateful when they dealt with Early Access in the worst way possible:
- Making people wait many months without saying anything
- Keeping exclusive content and communication strictly to Discord
- Downgrading a build to make people wait more only to push the same one back later on
- Not listening to player feedback regarding Beneath
- Not fixing old bugs that people reported long time ago
- The list goes on....
Also, the stuff that you're talking about.. the voice acting and arm animations, that's been there for a while now. It's been there in Beneath in the build that THEY TOOK FROM US, it was only a matter of time to transfer it to the scenarios (which isn't hard if everything is already made)
@ Supa Player - I don't know man, i've been using discord for years now and I have a big server myself. I never ever experienced such "errors", someone is most likely trolling me and I gave up on the idea of joining back despite it making impossible for me to contact the devs for suggestions and bug reports.
No they don't! You have no experience in early access games if you think that's a common practice.
Want an example? Clone Drone in the Danger Zone. The devs of that game let people use unfinished builds through the beta and they don't take them away from the players. They let people have access to it as it gets updated and then it becomes part of the stable build. It's simple, it's easy and it doesn't p*ss anyone off!
Oh it does, just listen to the majority of the people in pretty much any forum of an early access game. Remember, early access games require some form of activity so people can keep their hopes up, it's not like the devs released a finished product and are now developing optional future features.
Their work, despite great in some areas, has been too little too slow. Even you have to admit it, you have to admit how hard it was to wait more than a year for something new.
You're going that way huh? it's only getting downhill from here, so i'll spare the explaination as to why I got banned and how the Discord server was riddled with censorship to it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ core. I don't even know how it is right now because... guess what... they invented a new excuse for me not to join.
Bug fixes are a constant thing in game development, it's not something that is saved for later, you're probably thinking about optimization for performance gains. Oh and by the way, enemies spawning right next to you as you make a level transition isn't something drastic and in the way? oh boy... thanks for proving me right.
They did most certainly, I recall back in the day when I asked them why the items passed through the characters as they broke and they immediately fixed that by adding proper physics and collisions to the broken parts.
Beneath however, it's a whole different story, they never listened to feedback, people voiced concerns and they weren't heard. Nearly nobody likes the stupid Pursuer, so many people requested it's removal or nerf, neither of those things happened.
In terms of versions being "Taken away, just to be handed back the exact same thing," the first release of beneath was only a BETA TEST. This means it was only there for the sole purpose of feedback from the community, and information on bugs and errors. It is and was NOT INTENDED TO BE A STABLE GAME MODE. It was only a unstable taste of the real game mode for Eternic to buff it and shine it for release.
Now, the game being in EARLY ACCESS means that it is not a FINISHED GAME thta would receive normal bug fixes and consistent updates. Early Access explicitly means the game is not perfect, it is flawed and incomplete and should not be treated as a full title. It is like a beta version, there for people to have fun with and give feedback on, so the buffed and shined full game can be at its best upon release.
As for the bugs not being the first thing of importance in development, this is true. Unless it is completely rendering the game to where you cannot play it, it can wait. Other parts and pieces of the game still need to be developed and placed for the developer to be able to fix the game AS A WHOLE.
Finally, the pursuer can be a pain for some players without a tutorial, but the game mode was designed to be self explanatory by your second or maybe even third attempt at it. The pursuer is designed to spawn next to you to add tension to the game. It is therefore an integral part of the game mode itself, and can simply be dodge by running away from it.
Most people are excited for the new mode, but Beneath is designed to be sort of a speed run. Kill as many things and get out as fast as you can. It is not meant for sitting or taking your time exploring if you want the full experience.
Clone Drone:
- A new co-op challenges multiplayer mode
- Skins
- Emotes
- Achievements
- More challenges
That was all in the span of a couple months.
Paint the Town Red:
- One new gamemode that offers no tutorial whatsoever
- Voice acting, which I was better off without
And that was added in the span in of a year. It feels like this game is hardly being worked on.
Also, I hate developers that don't check steam discussions. At least Clone Drone in the Danger Zone's devs actually listen to their community and respond to them.
I played it around 3-4 times or more, dying every time, still not understanding what my goal is. There is no tutorial, no goal, and no story.
Beneath is better off as a challenge mode and not some baby controller player mode where people can do whatever they want, that will just ruin the fun of it.
but don't worry y'all, I'm sure Eternic will add some kind of nerf to the pursuer to help out you new keyboard and mouse players.
Speaking of the pursuer, I don't know how y'all keep having problems with him. You realize you can run in the game right? Because that's all you have to do.
He shouldn't even be a problem for the new inexpirienced players. I still fail to understand why you people want him removed. I mean, it's clearly because y'all don't know how to run. Btw you can run by pressing left shift Zeron. I'm sure your entitled ways of "nerfing" the pursuer won't work out for you. In fact I think he needs to be buffed.
By the way Zeron, just letting you know when you reply in walls I don't read it and I'm sure no one else does either, I know you're 15 and all but you don't have to type so much text, it's not very easy on the eye.
