Disappointing
So this is it huh?

After they made us wait years for Beneath, delivering it, then taking it away from us for no reason, they finally deliver it again in practically the same state as it was before. They even used the same old excuse "The changes between the last build and this one are too extensive to list" (that is a direct quote from their news post).

Yeah, too many changes huh? I still see that same bugs and other issues that were seen in the old build. It's funny how they pretend a lot of stuff was done. I could forgive them forcing us to update to the build to exclude Beneath mode if it meant we would get an improvement today, but such isn't the case.

Did they listen to people who said the Pursuer ruined the mode? Nooope, it's still presented in every single level. They didn't bother listening to everyone even if they said they disliked the mode solely because of this. They didn't even bother to make the Pursuer only appear on certain levels or take more time to arrive.

Did they remove spawn killers? Nooope, I still get killed with a level transition when i'm low on health because they spawn right inside my d*ck hole.

But oh, what am I seeing here? They also said in the news "Over the coming months as we get the last of the planned content into Paint the Town Red you'll see big improvements to performance and the overall polish applied to all areas of the game".
Hmmm laaast of the planned content? does that mean they probably will only have 1 more level and few quality of life things? We're talking about months by the way and we know how long they take to deliver, so there probably won't be much more content for the game...

Certainly i'm not going to ask for a Story and Weapon Creator in conjunction with the level editor, that would be too much work for them despite adding the proper replayability value that people desperately want out of this game. Yeah, I know I can download levels from the workshop, but come on, it's just levels built with a level editor that's still very barebones. If we could at least make our own weapons and add cutscenes between each level, it would've been quite a thrill.

I shouldn't be expecting much, but hey, I know the devs won't read even this because they only check Discord and i'm still banned there.

I agree 100%, I don't even know the purpose of Beneath. You're just thrown into the game without a tutorial. First few minutes, I'm running around in the facility not knowing where to go. After I stumbled into the elevator, where you are supposed to go, I tried killing the enemies, which is what paint the town red is all about, right? Then I just randomly die by the pursuer. What the hell are they doing with this game? Are they even trying anymore?

Zeron, you aren't banned, remember? There was an error with the invite link or discord had a bug.

I dunno, it just seems that you're ungrateful is all. Eternic worked very hard on the game and I think beneath really made the game even better. All the new stuff that is added and such. It even helped out the scenerios more by making them seem more realistic with all the voice acting.

First of all, somebody needs to teach you that you don't need to quote the whole first post of the thread, it's not needed.

Second, it's hard to be grateful when they dealt with Early Access in the worst way possible:
- Making people wait many months without saying anything
- Keeping exclusive content and communication strictly to Discord
- Downgrading a build to make people wait more only to push the same one back later on
- Not listening to player feedback regarding Beneath
- Not fixing old bugs that people reported long time ago
- The list goes on....

Also, the stuff that you're talking about.. the voice acting and arm animations, that's been there for a while now. It's been there in Beneath in the build that THEY TOOK FROM US, it was only a matter of time to transfer it to the scenarios (which isn't hard if everything is already made)

@ Supa Player - I don't know man, i've been using discord for years now and I have a big server myself. I never ever experienced such "errors", someone is most likely trolling me and I gave up on the idea of joining back despite it making impossible for me to contact the devs for suggestions and bug reports.
I dont know, you didnt seem to respond to me after i told you why they "took away" the build in the first place. It was actually there to get feedback, not to just play forever. Every developer does that. It doesnt really matter if they dont say anything, as long as they are actually working on it. And maybe next time don't get removed from the discord if you want the information there. And bug fixes are usually last priority when it comes to game development, unless they are drastically in the way. And the devs DID in fact listen to the feedback.

It was also there to reward those who kept waiting, so the wait didn't become more and more absurd as time passed. Taking it away from players only to deliver nearly the same thing afterwards is the ultimate d*ck move. You fail to understand that because you're blindly defending the devs. They could look you in the eye and tell you to f*ck off, you would still love them, that's how ridiculous the whole fanboy thing is.

Originally posted by $cyth3:

No they don't! You have no experience in early access games if you think that's a common practice.
Want an example? Clone Drone in the Danger Zone. The devs of that game let people use unfinished builds through the beta and they don't take them away from the players. They let people have access to it as it gets updated and then it becomes part of the stable build. It's simple, it's easy and it doesn't p*ss anyone off!

Originally posted by $cyth3:

Oh it does, just listen to the majority of the people in pretty much any forum of an early access game. Remember, early access games require some form of activity so people can keep their hopes up, it's not like the devs released a finished product and are now developing optional future features.

Originally posted by $cyth3:

Their work, despite great in some areas, has been too little too slow. Even you have to admit it, you have to admit how hard it was to wait more than a year for something new.

You're going that way huh? it's only getting downhill from here, so i'll spare the explaination as to why I got banned and how the Discord server was riddled with censorship to it's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ core. I don't even know how it is right now because... guess what... they invented a new excuse for me not to join.

Bug fixes are a constant thing in game development, it's not something that is saved for later, you're probably thinking about optimization for performance gains. Oh and by the way, enemies spawning right next to you as you make a level transition isn't something drastic and in the way? oh boy... thanks for proving me right.

They did most certainly, I recall back in the day when I asked them why the items passed through the characters as they broke and they immediately fixed that by adding proper physics and collisions to the broken parts.
Beneath however, it's a whole different story, they never listened to feedback, people voiced concerns and they weren't heard. Nearly nobody likes the stupid Pursuer, so many people requested it's removal or nerf, neither of those things happened.

Okay, I do see your point about how the game may not be everything you want right now. But you have to understand, Eternic is ONE person, with a life outside of the game, who spent the time to create a game mode and redesign all of the games physics for the most part.

In terms of versions being "Taken away, just to be handed back the exact same thing," the first release of beneath was only a BETA TEST. This means it was only there for the sole purpose of feedback from the community, and information on bugs and errors. It is and was NOT INTENDED TO BE A STABLE GAME MODE. It was only a unstable taste of the real game mode for Eternic to buff it and shine it for release.

Now, the game being in EARLY ACCESS means that it is not a FINISHED GAME thta would receive normal bug fixes and consistent updates. Early Access explicitly means the game is not perfect, it is flawed and incomplete and should not be treated as a full title. It is like a beta version, there for people to have fun with and give feedback on, so the buffed and shined full game can be at its best upon release.

As for the bugs not being the first thing of importance in development, this is true. Unless it is completely rendering the game to where you cannot play it, it can wait. Other parts and pieces of the game still need to be developed and placed for the developer to be able to fix the game AS A WHOLE.

Finally, the pursuer can be a pain for some players without a tutorial, but the game mode was designed to be self explanatory by your second or maybe even third attempt at it. The pursuer is designed to spawn next to you to add tension to the game. It is therefore an integral part of the game mode itself, and can simply be dodge by running away from it.

Most people are excited for the new mode, but Beneath is designed to be sort of a speed run. Kill as many things and get out as fast as you can. It is not meant for sitting or taking your time exploring if you want the full experience.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

If that's what the true purpose of that game mode is, that is boring as ♥♥♥♥. Who the hell wants to speedrun this game? Based on how many people hate the pursuer, it seems that nobody wants to "speed run" this game. I'd rather have more scenarios, or at least have the new classes able to be used in scenarios.

I played it around 3-4 times or more, dying every time, still not understanding what my goal is. There is no tutorial, no goal, and no story.

Beneath is meant to be a challenging mode, if it's not your cup of tea, then you don't have to play it. Eternic will prob add modifiers for stubborn noobs like y'all to be able to properly play it.

Beneath is better off as a challenge mode and not some baby controller player mode where people can do whatever they want, that will just ruin the fun of it.

but don't worry y'all, I'm sure Eternic will add some kind of nerf to the pursuer to help out you new keyboard and mouse players.

Speaking of the pursuer, I don't know how y'all keep having problems with him. You realize you can run in the game right? Because that's all you have to do.

He shouldn't even be a problem for the new inexpirienced players. I still fail to understand why you people want him removed. I mean, it's clearly because y'all don't know how to run. Btw you can run by pressing left shift Zeron. I'm sure your entitled ways of "nerfing" the pursuer won't work out for you. In fact I think he needs to be buffed.

By the way Zeron, just letting you know when you reply in walls I don't read it and I'm sure no one else does either, I know you're 15 and all but you don't have to type so much text, it's not very easy on the eye.
