Game Speed
I am considering this game but the gameplay and interface appears to be very slow and clunky?

Can anyone comment on their experience with this and the average time it takes them to play a game?

In my experience, the interface is actually very intuitive. I usually play whole matches with just the mouse.

Gameplay should usually take about 15-20 minutes per match. It's longer against certain villains and shorter when clicking through the animations.

you can adjust the animation speed and even press tab to FF. The interface is good, simple but does the job it has to do...

I can throw in 2 cents here. I have this on both Steam and Android and first off, I love this game. On my current computer, I have no issues what-so-ever (to be fair it is a gaming computer). On my previous computer, I also had no issues. That was a decent machine, but nowhere near the power of my current rig. On my tablet, on the other hand, it can be a bit slow. I've noticed that for certain things, like bringing up the list of cards from The Wraith's deck with an Impromptu Invention, it can be rather slow. This is probaby due to the lower RAM or proccessing power that the tablet has.
As far as game time, it depends on the decks chosen, what cards are played, decision making, etc. But I usually expect to be playing for anywhere from 30 minutes to like an hour and a half or so (again depending on the above factors). There are also options to speed the game up by removing some animations and speeding up the others. Though that might not help you much if you want to play fast in multiplayer.

I do not play realm of discord or Matriach on the tablet, because each element that is added to the yellow list get slower than the previous one.

On Steam, if you know what you're doing, you can hold Tab to speed the game along.

I find the game only ever slows down if there are lots of targets to choose from (as mentioned above) or if I've been playing for hours on end. <.< That could just be me, though.

I can relay that the list of targets can slow the game down when it starts getting excessive and slows down even with a gaming rig when there's 20+ targets in play and all of them are suggested targets, or a situation where something deals damage to every target.

That said it only slows down when compiling the list the first time. For example, on any of Infinitor's "deal 1 damage to every target" slows the loading of the list down considerably when he's got 10+ targets in play and Captain Cosmic has roughly the same number. But it only slows down on that initial listing, letting you click and choose which ones to target first and not having to wait for the list to load again. At least for that one effect; a new list is generated for every effect.

As for the ability to fast forward, there's actually an in-game slider for animation speed. I find the maximum speed on card draws and page flips to be a bit excessive, so I just click through most animations instead.

Two years after OP...setting the card and dialogue delays to "forever" and mouse clicking to advance is my preference for both speed and stopping to take in a new card effect/art.

Some things can definitely feel very annoying and clunky, but that’s mostly on account of having to make very minor or repetitive decisions because the game lacks a ‘make same decision the next 5 times’ ability, or ability to recognize something isn’t gonna be important (most the time. In some cases, it can). Like when I set up a Twist the Either, Lead from the Front, Smoke Bombs combo to make the villian spend their time wailing uselessly on a hero they couldn’t harm, every single attack opened up several prompts I had to re-click through. 5 times in case of AoE attacks. Having to click (damage), (doesn’t matter), yes, (damage), (doesn’t matter), no, Fire, Increase every time got old really fast.
